If work hasn't commenced at Nippert already, I'd say the answer is "NO" for this year at least.

I agree - the thing would have to already be built or well under construction.

You're probably right. I would think they'd be pimpin' the thing big time if it was really gonna happen next month. Seems too quiet. Keep hope alive.

I don't think the "pimping" thing is the main issue.

These things take months to put in. We are now about a (single) month from the season. I just don't think there is the time to do the project at this point. If they were going to do it, it would simply be obvious to see, because the construction would be already taking place...there'd be NO doubt about it because a simple visit to the Stadium--which plenty of people have done for FCC games, etc...--would have revealed the work.

It's simply too late in the game to imagine them pulling a bunch of trucks in to slap a new screen in place. It's not that type of project.

So, if they haven't been pulling the old set up down and doing the construction for the new board at this point, it's not going to happen. It's not a failure of publicity, but pure logistics at this point.

(Oh, and the other thing to contemplate is this... The Stadium of course sits in the middle of Campus, so not only would we have to "beat the season," you really have to beat the start of Semester, which is what??? Three weeks off now?)

My point is that this is something fans have been asking for, so if it was imminent for this upcoming season, it would be hyped big time to hopefully drive ticket sales.
I will say that the Reds put that really big video board in right field in a very short period of time during the season, so the logistics may not be as daunting as you think.

RE: Are we getting a new scoreboard?
There are claims on another board that there is a two-week window that fcc is out of town in August, and that is when it will be installed. If that is trye, I would think new cabling, prep work, etc. would be currently getting started

On the podcast with Chad, Mike B. said he could't comment specifically but that with bigger flat objects, there is bigger wind resistance and that there could have been people in Nippert that very day working on things related to that.

Sounded to me like its in the works.

RE: Are we getting a new scoreboard?
What we need most in a scoreboard is one that shows us winning almost all home game. I can endure a crappy scoreboard but a crappy team is no fun.

The thing is, we already have a good frame built in place. I think the new screen takes out the advertisements on either side and makes most everything digital.

RE: Are we getting a new scoreboard?
I can live with the old scoreboard. Hell, I'm forced to put up with mid-major football. But they have to do something with that sound system. When we had that huge rain on the opening night of the 'new' Nippert, they tried to make a safety announcement but most did not hear it.

Even the notch team and their fans must hate it. For my one game the sound was almost inaudible.

RE: Are we getting a new scoreboard?
The sound system at Nippert really is bad. Does the new Scoreboard include new sound system? If not, that realllllly needs to 1A as the next item on the list.

Concerning the Score board and location
Any new score board will of course be in the same location. However the season ticket holders in the Bearcatlair can't even see the score board. I suggest that a mini video board be placed on the wall to the right of Bearcatlair. It would improve the game experience of the 2500 folks who sit there.

I only look at it for Replays anyway, so I can turn around easy enough.

The expense of it to serve only about 5% of the stadium makes it not worthwhile. Those are the cheap seats for a reason.

RE: Are we getting a new scoreboard?
Also with a new digital scoreboard, except those under the cover of the building, the viewing angles should be greatly increased allowing many in the Lair to see..

Also point of clarification.. it's not 2500.. for FCC they sell 1700 tickets in that area, so its probably close to that.. which is right at that 5% as mentioned above

$328.00 for two tickets in Bearcatlair which is only $100.00 less the folks who can see the score board. Agreed that they are less expensive then other seat options but that should have no baring on being able to see the score board. Most all other stadiums everyone can see the score boards.

Trying to understand. The only thing you can't see is the video, right? All of the other information on the boards should be on the ribbon boards, right?

Perhaps the scoreboard could be sent out on an internet site and all in the cheap seats could bring a tablet.

When do you watch the video screen? I usually only look at it when I am trying to watch a replay or some kind of special video. At that point, no action is going on, and I am happy to turn around. I've had season tickets in the Bearcat lair since 2007, except the one season they were at PBS. The only thing that's ever bothered me, was the screen was so blurry.

They may be the "cheap" tickets, but I'd sit there even if they were more expensive than anywhere else. I just really like it there.

RE: Are we getting a new scoreboard?
I had Bearcat Lair seats for a few years. Not seeing the scoreboard well was an accepted trade off for the price of the tickets. The worst part though was the blaring pregame 'music' due to the poor sound system. Other than that I enjoyed those seats.

I have since moved to the new cheap seats and I expect I'll still have to deal with the poor sound system this year.

isn't bearcat lair climbing in price? I thought the first year.. they were 100$ per seat, INCLUDING the UCATS donation.. may be wrong

RE: Are we getting a new scoreboard?
How many years has the promise of a "new scoreboard" been hanging over this forum? I know this is at least the second year where the promise of "a new scoreboard" has been a dominant theme (because last summer we were going on about the (then) "new" FCC contract).

It has come to resemble Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown in my opinion.

Can you view the scoreboard in GreatAmerican Ballpark if you are sitting in the left field seats? If it is important move your seats
