these are the only 6 coaches with a 4 or 5. Which makes sense, given that 63 of the 130 coaches in FBS this year are in their first 3 years- or 48/130(37.5%) in the last 2 years.
VERY solid list. Hard to argue with any of them. I'd also add.
1) Jim Mora - UCLA
2) Bret Bielema - Arkansas

I agree. So why does CBS have Bielema rated a "2" on their scale? Do they know something we don't, or are they trying to curry favor with the SEC?

I think Bielema is pretty safe this year. I mean of course if he goes like 3-9- that goes out the window- but you could say that about a lot of folks. I think the year his seat is really hot is next year if this year is mediocre.

RE: coaches on hot seat
Baylor is a hot seat right now. I just don't know why anybody want to coach there right now. The school could lose federal funds because of Title 9, and Baylor may have to do cut backs. Sports could take a hit like SMU did. Not sure the coaches are in the hot seat, but if Baylor do not clean up their act? Many coaches could be in the hot seat with a pink slip until they regain their semblance as a school again on financial.

I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.
CBS and the SEC are joined at the hip so I doubt CBS would want to make waves by insinuating one of their "hips" coach is on the hot seat.

IIRC Bielema has a $15 million buyout until after the 2018 season.....then it drops considerably.

He makes him out to look like a male donkey when he inserts his foot in the mouth. Losing to Toledo made his seat still hot.

He's had four seasons, and they've made it to bowl games the last three (2-1). They play in an impossible division.
I could see him coasting there for a while.

Playing Purdue now serves very little point with the five game ACC commitment and the "untouchable" games against Southern Cal, Stanford and Navy.
I have a question in regards of this. My understand with them was that the only reason they play Purdue was that they are basically "down the street" and was the easiest road trip for the Irish. Is there any truth to that?

Also, the AD that hired Bert is still there. Usually a struggling coach gets a longer leash if the AD who hired him is still there, because the AD doesn't want to admit that he hired the wrong guy.
Same rationale applies for Mora.

If Freeze gets fired, Ole Miss is going to be toxic for any potential new coach now. Maybe they can get Jim Grobe to come out of retirement again.

RE: coaches on hot seat
It will take another season like 4-8 for BK to removed. Our dumb AD is all in on him. If we fail this season again, he (BK) will be back and the revolt will be massive. Just a few ads this time. They are playing with fire and doubling down on a loser. The fan-base has been patient this off-season (generally speaking).
Not one more dollar from me till he is gone (Swarbrick).
