RE: Senate Obamacare replacement
If Schumer hates it, then its probably ok.

I've seen some of the highlights of it. I'm not sure how it differs greatly from the house bill yet.

Can't wait for the piss poor GOP states to start whining when they don't have the money to cover their Medicaid recipients if this thing goes through as is.

RE: Senate Obamacare replacement
Quote:The Senate GOP’s health care bill is a strange document. It doesn’t fix what conservatives dislike most about Obamacare. But it takes what everyone else hates about Obamacare and makes it much, much worse.

The plan keeps Obamacare’s basic structure intact. The tax credits remain tied to income. Many of the insurance regulations remain in place. Medicaid is, in theory, gutted down the road, but the cuts don’t even begin until 2021 — raising the fear for conservatives that they’ll never happen at all. Even the cost-sharing reductions to insurers — which Republicans bemoaned as an illegal “bailout” — are restored.

So Obamacare — the government program that makes it the state’s responsibility to cover people with health insurance — mostly survives. If you are a conservative angry that the federal government has created a new health care entitlement, this bill doesn’t solve your problem.
The Senate health bill takes what Americans hate about Obamacare and makes it worse

I assume it's pretty bad if it was written unilaterally and in secret not just from democrats but other republicans as well. This bill is DOA. I can't wait for the obstructionist hypocrisy tsunami when Senate democrats filibuster this. Aren't you guys mad they are trying to "shove this down your throats?"

They control both houses and the executive....and won't be able to repeal a complete and utter failure that they PROMISED to repeal.

If they can't get this done then it sets up the Democrats to go to single-payer the next time they take power....which will likely be SOON.

They are a useless...useless....useless...useless...party at the moment.

People voted for them to repeal Obamacare....and they won't do it.

Waiting for some sort of independent, fact-based summary of what is actually in it.

Agree. That's why I don't have an opinion on it. My litmus test is whether or not it reduces costs and increases options and freedom. I am not naive enough to believe a full, free-market replacement is going to get through congress. There is going to be schit in it I don't like, but if it simply shifts sand from one side of the room to the other, I will be opposed.

Idiot guest on Shep Smith right now says that the % above the poverty line to qualify for subsidies drops from 400% to 350%, and she says those people will lose coverage.

Really? They lose their subsidy so they lose their insurance? That's how it works? They couldn't just pay for it themselves? Remember, we aren't talking about the indigent, we're talking about those who make ABOVE 3.5x the poverty line -- $42,210/year.

This is the quintessential example of why people have no respect for liberals and their inane posts.

When Obamacare was passed, new taxes were added to pay for part of the giveaways, and those generally affected only the rich.

Now when you repeal the bill, parts that related to taxes will also disappear.

But of course, the proglodytes claim this is a tax cut for the rich. Pathetic.
