I don't know what to believe, but I do know that there is a huge pile of negative stories and a few positive stories, so there's that.

I think Stammers is on the right track. You shouldn't of have him in if it's this late and you don't want him. I don't know if it's horrible, but it ain't good. Disappointing might be a better word. Something was lost in communication, it's someone's on the staff's fault. I'm OK with a couple mistakes, if you make up for them. Those two haven't made up for them.

Ttaylor is also right in that J&J are making a big deal out of a minor story. Y'all remember the Toriano Stokes story right? How Tubby was lazy and we were only going to end up with Stokes in the late period? How did that turn out?

Exactly...they are in the business of generating listeners. And this obviously worked. They have done this consistently and one of the reasons I stopped listening to them.

Most of the shock stories are one sided. That's not responsible reporting in general and they don't care. They also tend to make crazy assumptions and trot them out as facts.

I guess Geron Johnson thought Hawkins deserved a second chance---much like he was given. But other schools have reached out so DH will get one.

You guys be living in a dream world if you think Memphis gets perfect recruits and grad transfers. How soon we forget Michael DixonJr. Now Jelan and the big guy who pulled a gun didn't work out but Michael Dixon and Geron did.

That being said I defer to staff's decision on the matter. No use creaming Hawkins down to smithereens, though. Geron Johnson is a friend of the program. His opinion is of some value.

What this story truly amounts to is Jason Smith tweeting out, "Hey check out my show. I've got YUGE news that'll disappoint you on Tubby." Then he tells that story, while describing this kid as if he's the next Shaq, and leaving out the part that he has a checkered past. It was a ploy to get viewers, it failed, and the kid will go somewhere else.

The DUI was a decade back. But this kid has way more issues than just a DUI.

Regardless Tubby seems to be staying away from players with baggage. Let's give him a chance to build the roster this way. Now if this dude was a stud, maybe we could over look his baggage.

A quality grad transfer like Hawkins is a terrific high reward/low risk quick fix. The primary drawback is the effect on APR if he does not obtain a grad degree.

I rarely post here anymore. But saw the discussion. Jason Smith is as bad as they come when it comes to these cryptic "hey tune in tweets." Show must not be doing that great.

Disagree about quality. Can't overlook the issues he has recently had and the possible impact he may have on team chemistry if he doesn't work out. Also we have enough bigs...we need guards.
