It's New Mexico. Might as well be, New Mexico shares similarities to Northeast Mexico.

States usually have instate rivals in football.

Colorado Vs Colorado State is a big game for both schools.
Iowa Vs Iowa State Vs Northern Iowa seems to be big as well.
Arizona Vs Arizona State Vs. Northern Arizona.
Some states don't have in conference or instate rivals. UTEP and West Texas A&M would have been a better close rivals from the same state. UTSA, North Texas and Rice are not close to them.

Nothing similar about New Mexico and Old Mexico except the word Mexico. NM Should of been named New Spain. Juarez is very deserty with a lesser amount of trees, green and it's much hotter. Phoenix or Tuscon have similarities with NE Mexico. Starting at Albuquerque and continuing through Santa Fe is an area that's at least a mile high and has 4 seasons including snow and sk resorts. Rarely will it ever reach 100 degrees. You need a winter coat. The food is much much different. Mexican food is hamburger, Tex Mex is spam and New Mexican food is filet minot. I obviously like New Mexico and the only part of NE Mexico I like are Monterrey , (In the whole of Mexico, I like Puerto Vallarta and Cancoon resorts obviously, who doesn't) and a certain jungle area that's impossible to navigate through because of the Narcos. Absolutely beautiful.

Iowa vs Northern Iowa is not big David. They've only played a few times ever. Please stop saying that.

No, it's in Texas, near the state of New Mexico and near the country of Mexico. Was geography a neglected subject in your education or is there some other, veiled reason for that comment?

We played UTEP for many seasons, I know where the school is located. It was a joke, sorry, didn't mean to hit a sore spot.

That being said UTEP needs to renovate the football stadium. I would chair back the entire stadium, update the scoreboard, and build a new press box with luxury seating. Try to get more corporate seats sold increase attendance. Make deals with the government for Ft. Bliss (maybe a tailgate area for the soldiers and seats near the student sections). Work with the local corporations to sell box seats, etc. I think UTEP has a lot of potential just seems like it has been left behind. You guys have the Sun Bowl each year which is great and maybe having more luxury seats will help the bowl game out as well, maybe make that a package deal UTEP season tickets + the Sun Bowl.
Of your three recommendations for renovations to the Sun Bowl the first one I completely agree with, the second has been completed, and the third is in the funding stage.

Any renderings for the new press box?

I would have considered unignoring DavidSt if he didn't blow that UTEP rival scenario and had mentioned D2 power Sul Ross State over in Big Bend country instead of WTAMU...

The Colorado - Colorado State game is so important that the Colorado Legislature had to pass a law in about 1980 requiring them to play after they stopped the series after 1958 game. The law has expired and the contract ends with the 2020 game. CU will not renew the contract.

I seriously doubt that AU or ASU considers playing Northern Arizona to be of any importance.

Yes, I seriously doubt Auburn does...

As for UA or ASU, correct. They do like to schedule NAU for FCS OOC game, since that usually brings the largest OOC crowds to the stadium.
