The total FUBAR that was the Cuban Missile Crisis doesn't need to be mentioned, does it? Honestly, if it weren't for some RUSSIAN saying "Cuba isn't worth dying for" then we'd all probably be dead or never born.
But hey, he sure did have good speech writers and talked well!
Oh, and thanks for the s***-fest that was LBJ! Best thing Johnson did as president was not run again in '68.
True that. If it wasn't for Lyndon's escalation of the Viet Nam War we wouldn't have had 54,000 needless deaths dying for a corrupt South V.N. and look what happened anyway. Ho Chi Minh never wanted a war he only wanted to do what Abe Lincoln did, that is, unite the nation of Viet Nam.
Funny how Liberalturds tell us Republicans are the ones starting wars when MOST are started by Demoncratic administrations. That's another story though.

We have troops in almost every European country, Asia and in the Middle East and we're isolating ourselves? Hmm, interesting.

RE: American't.
Trump shot a bunch of missiles up Assad's ass, has two carrier groups off the Korean peninsula, just told the ME to get their houses in order while standing on their soil, and spent a week telling Europe that their mess is their own fault. That's hardly being an isolationist in the traditional sense.

Those bombs were just a one off deal so far. I have not heard any real foreign policy on Syria or N.Korea for that matter.

You fail to look at the delicate nature of the situation in NK. If we attack millions of SK will perish not to mention the ones in NK, Japan and perhaps the Philippines. We're not necessarily treading with soft soles we're being careful.
Have you noticed that NK hasn't flung any artillery shells at SK lately like they like to do? Perhaps NK is aware that the US is looking for a window in which to claim retaliation for an ally (SK). If we go all out first we'll be the bad guy if we wait like we did before WWI, WWII and the Korean War then we're just defending our interests.

Your thoughts.
My thoughts are that Kennedy wasn't all that great.
JFK got us in to the Vietnam War. Though Eisenhower formulated the plan, Kennedy approved the Bay of Pigs Invasion, which led to the Cuban missile crisis. And JFK was president when the Soviet Union built the Berlin Wall. Most of what he actually did while President was not good for the U.S. or our allies.
So, in summery. A democrat mishandled a proxy war with the Soviet Union which led us closer to a nuclear conflict then any other time in our history. And, this emboldened the Soviets to the point that they built a wall to incarcerate a large portion of a major city for more then 30 years. This same democratic President also escalated our position in Indochina into a proxy war with China, which cost many American lives. I would like to end this statement by pointing out that both geopolitical blunders were finally dealt with by capable Republican Presidents (Nixon got us out of Vietnam & Reagan got the Soviets to dismantle the Berlin Wall).
I will give JFK credit for funding and pushing American space exploration, but that is about it.

The moon stuff is way overblown. It is presented like JFK said, "Let there be a space program," and one appeared out of thin air. That's not what happened at all.
We had a space program that was progressing toward getting to the moon. We had 7 Astronauts for 3-4 years before JFK took office. I think 3 of them had already flown in space before Kennedy gave his famous speech. Thee were two competing approaches. The army under the direction of Werner von Braun had a plan to launch a permanent space station first, and then to go to the moon from that space station. There was a two or three part series on Walt Disney's show describing the program in great detail, including a simulated mission to the moon. IIRC the timetable was space station by 1968, moon by 1975. The competing approach was to bypass the space station and go straight to the moon. By committing to the moon before the end of the decade, JFK chose the second approach. My cousins who worked at Redstone at the time were very unhappy with the speech.
Although I have to confess that I did enjoy the, "Why does Rice play Texas?" line in the speech.

If not for a back channel communication source with the Soviets, WWIII probably would have happened.
And you can thank conservative Democrats back then to use their heads. Sadly those type of Democrats are long gone . Replaced by the outer fringe wackos of today.

Couldn't agree more. And this is one reason I can't throw in with the Libertarians. But our goal should be to urge the rest of the world to rise to our standard and not to let them bring us down to theirs.
No part of libertarianism is about isolating ourselves from the rest of the world. In fact, a key tenet of libertarianism is increased trade which brings us more together with the rest of the world. Libertarianism believes in relationships based upon trade rather than politics or alliances or ideology or military force.
Libertarians are non-interventionists, not isolationists. Switzerland is non-interventionist, North Korea is isolationist.
Unfortunately today there are too many countries that only want to trade bullets making this plan impractical in the current world. Otherwise I would be onboard.

Now however we have a President that says we can't. We can't stay in NAFTA. We can't allow immigration from other countries. We can't trust the media. We can't trust our intelligence community. We can't have the Affordable Healthcare Act. We can't, we can't, we can't.
Now it seems he is about to say we can no longer be in the Paris agreement.
Trump always says he is going to make America Great but everything he is doing is sending a signal to the world that we no longer want to be the greatest country in the world.
We no longer want to lead the world with innovations like alternative energy. We no longer want to challenge other countries to protect the civil rights of it's citizens.
We no longer want to be AmeriCans.
He wants us to become AmeriCan'ts.
Your thoughts.
By whom?
He was a WWII vet, that's to be recognized, but what did he ever do to be a great president?
Vietnam? Be, apparently, kind of cute? Have a hottish wife, or cute kid under the Oval Office desk? Die, tragically young?
How about being the rich heir to a booze runner from the days of prohibition? What would now be a serial felon?
So, in History of the World Part Uno, why would he regarded as one of the greats?
I'd reserve that for Washington, Lincoln, Madison, Adams, FDR (for WWII only), and certainly Ronaldus Maximus for crushing communism in our time. Shame the leftists have invited them right back in with open arms.
