Pitching Next Year. . . . . .
Do we have some redshirt or transfer pitchers that may help next year??? And I've heard Luke Reynolds, the transfer from State, is a great hitter. He's listed on the roster but isn't he ineligible this year?

Reynolds will play next year.
Couple JUCO guys coming in. Eubanks, Keith, Strickland. Think there's a lefty from Hinds too (can't remember his name). Walker Powell is about to start throwing again. Won't be ready for this year, but should be good for 2018. Don't know how effective he'll be after 2 TJ surgeries.

Not sure if anything has changed but there's also Shauger who is a lefty from Chipola, Jackson is the guy from Hinds, a lefty HS kid from Missouri, a HS righty from Illinois, and two rightys from Alabama high schools.
Houston Case will be back too, I assume.
I'm not counting on anything from Powell.
You get Reynolds. Plus Montenegro. Two more left handed bats.
No inside knowledge but I would be shocked if some position players don't transfer out due to lack of playing time. I look at a guy like Cooper and it is hard to see where his playing time comes from. Keating'a situation reminds me a lot of Luke Adkins several years ago who was a good player but was platooned in/out of lineup and wanted to play full time as a senior. Again, I know absolutely nothing about these players personally but just two examples of guys who could more playing time elsewhere.

I'm wondering if McCarty and Braley plan to go into the Draft. If not, could be a big year next year as well.

If they return I could see a few more players transferring out as playing time will be a little less for others.

Cooper is definitely a player I could see transferring. Bowen too.
Keating probably won't transfer but could get drafted. If that happens, don't think he's coming back.

What I'm hearing is one of them has a specific number in mind and if he doesn't get it, he'll be back but the other is pretty much gone.

Would Braley get drafted? As a hitter or pitcher? Seems like he wouldn't project well at the next level as a hitter. Not sure what position he would play. With another year pitching, I could see him being a better prospect on the mound.

I don't think Bowen is leaving.

RE: Pitching Next Year. . . . . .
Braley doesn't project very well as a pro position player. He's probably more like a 10-15 home run a year guy in pro ball. Doesn't run real well and would probably have to play first base. Don't think he would get drafted high enough to leave as a hitter. As a pitcher though, he's getting a lot of late buzz from scouts. For the last few weeks he's been 92-94 touching 95 with 2 average or better offspeed pitches.
McCarty I don't have a good read on. He's a pitchability guy that works at 87-89 most of the time and will touch 90 or 91. He's got several off speed pitches but none are any better then average in my opinion. I can't see him getting much money. But he might decide to go just because this is his last chance to get any sort of decent signing bonus.
If I were Keating I would go. He's the kind of athlete that needs to go into a pro development system quickly. Great athlete and has good power. Has come a long way the last 2 years. Still doesn't have great feel for hitting. Will probably be a part time starter again next year.

RE: Pitching Next Year. . . . . .
I still think Braley could come back next year. Move him over to 1st and play Reynolds at 3rd. Keating will probably leave.
1) Reynolds - 3B
2) Irby - RF
3) Slater - LF
4) Braley - 1B
5) Wallner - CF
6) Viaene/Hoard - DH
7) Donaldson/Bowen - C
8) Guidry/Cooper - 2B
9) Boyd - SS
Starting rotation: McCarty/Smith/Braley (I like McCarty on Friday nights, not Saturday). ?? on midweek
Middle relief: Strickland/Roberts (maybe drafted?)/Nelms/Carroll/Keys. I think Nelms and Carroll are both guys that could improve over the offseason.
Situational: Driver/Powers
Back end: Wallner/Sandlin
Going to hold off on expecting anything from Powell for now. If he comes back strong from this surgery, that'd be a huge boost.
Depending on what happens in the draft, this could be an elite-level team (e.g. sorta like the 2014 ULL squad that went 58-10 and got a national seed).
