RE: Road Games
Only been to one road game in my life (UNT last year) but I might try to go to one this year. If I do it'll be either Rice or UAB. I'd say about a 25% chance I go. If UNT or USM was on the road that would be more likely, but Houston/B'Ham is a pretty long drive and I'm broke lol.

Hopefully, Illinois, Vandy and Marshall. We've really wanted to come to Marshall but the scheduled date of the game has been a problem.

I have already been to Illinois and Vandy so am looking forward to visiting the Home of the Herd.

I'll try and make Ball State Sa and Dallas are possibilities because the airfare is pretty cheap. USM is a given.

Guys fly southwest. Screw the P5 airlines. You can't beat the fares.

Depending on how the season is going I want to make the 9hr drive to Hattiesburg. Only if we are at 3-3 or 2-4 at that point and they're not sitting at 6-0. If we are having a real good season I will consider making the 12 hr drives to both Murfreesboro and Birmingham. All three of those cities I've never visited. Growing up in El Paso I'm accustomed to making long drives to reach other civilizations. So a couple of 12hr drives don't faze me. I'll jump in my pickup truck and make a weekend out of it.

Have you made plans to attend any road games this upcoming season? Which games are you definitely going to go see? Which ones are you on the fence?

I've missed 2 Western football games in the last 5 seasons ...wife illness for the ODU game and did not have a passport for the bowl game.

Never flown, we drive to all...this year will be no different and we will be at all 14. Even if that 14th is the Bahamas. Getting our passport with in the next couple months because we plan on going to the Basketball tourney (Nov 23rd-24th) over there then made the Western football game at FIU on the 25th ...

The trip I'm looking forward to the most is UTEP. Never been west of Denton TX. Western has a bye week before playing UTEP. So I have a 5500 mile trip planned. Leaving after Western's home game vs Ball State. Heading N.West to Yellowstone National Park, then down to Utah, San Francisco, down to LA., over to Vegas, Grand Cannon, down to Phoenix/Tucson before heading over to El Paso on game day. From El Pasco, we are going to San Antonio, Houston, New Orleans....getting in BG on Saturday...3 weeks later for our game vs UNCC

Been planning this trip since the schedule was released. I'm assuming the game at UTEP will be a night game? Going off past schedules Oct games have all been night games.

I retired from work (@52) just so I would never have to miss another Western football game. So far I've enjoyed every road trip...win or lose. As long as the health holds I don't plan on missing one.....

usually put 45+k miles each year for Western football and basketball

That is awesome! Enjoy that long road trip it's going to be fun. I'm sincerely jealous.

Yes the game will most likely have a 6pm kickoff. I recommend getting seats in the west side of the stadium to avoid the sun in your face during the 1st half. The seats on the east side are the designated "visitor section" behind the visiting bench. If the sun doesn't bother you then those are great seats since you'll have a beautiful view of the sun setting into the Franklin mountains. To your left behind the video board you will also have a clear view into Juarez Mexico. Since it's an early October game the weather will be perfect throughout the night.

I hope we have a competitive team at that point in the season and there's a good 30k on hand to make the experience even better. The people should be very friendly. Since the food at the game is not that great I recommend eating at Taco Tote before the game. It's a local restaurant from the region. It's right next to the Don Haskins Center within walking distance of the Sun Bowl.

You're one lucky fellow. I wish I could retire at that age and road trip around the nation catching all the UTEP games. It must be a lot more fun as WKU fan since you actually win games. As we get closer to the season if you would like I would be glad to give you recommendations of where to stay and what to visit while in El Paso. 04-cheers

RE: Road Games
I usually try to make at least one road game. This year it will likely be the SMU game (4 hour drive, so not terrible), but I really dont want them to get a single dollar from me. Perhaps ill drive to Rice instead. Ill let the wife decide.

Definitely like Apogee, very nice stadium. Had a pretty good atmosphere. Didn't have any complaints, really. Didn't get to tailgate, got there too late for that. Kinda cool y'all have that bridge going across the interstate. Kind of a long walk but I'm young lol.
