Haven't seen the aircraft carrier USS Ohio yet.

That's because the USS Ohio was a nuclear submarine. There were 2 aircraft carriers named the USS Wright. The first was named for Orville, the second for both brothers.
USS Cincinnati (SSN-693) was a Los Angeles-class nuclear attack submarine in service from 1978 to 1996.

Next boat up (#5) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:USS_I...opped).jpg

But if we are talking about boats... doesn't Navy have a leg up in this fight?

FYI, a really good book on the Wright Brothers if you want to know more about their lives, flight etc. A lot of interesting info, would recommend.

So then it's settled. Cincinnati and the Wright Bros are in everyone's good graces. The Wright Bros were 2 brilliant inventors, from Ohio, with the exceptional foresight to come to God's own State of East Carolina. (Yes it's a thing, look at my avatar)

Around here we only pee on UNC if it's burning and we can pee gasoline.

I thought we all learned last summer that flight was discovered in Brazil, rendering Dayton and the entire state of North Carolina utterly useless.

Alberto Santos-Dumont was Brazillian, but flew in Europe, and did it three years after the Wrights.

So every time Yao Ming hit a jumpshot, some basketball team in Shanghai would log 2 points?

That's because everyone wants to be as far away from Ohio as humanly possible. Same goes for Houston.

The plane was designed and built in Dayton. The only reason North Carolina was used at all was for the wind in December (they didn't have the wind in Dayton during that time, plus it was cold) and the dunes to launch from. Most of their testing was in Dayton and that's why when you go to the Smithsonian section about the Wright Brothers you see their house, their cycle shop, and pictures of Dayton all over the place.

And then there's Richard Gatling, inventor of the Gatling gun, who was born in North Carolina but had to go to Ohio to find a decent medical school (in Cincinnati, of course).

Now that is genius, a doctor who could create his own patients.

Cincinnati was the first professional baseball team, but Atlanta Braves are the oldest major league team.
