The MLS can't negotiate tv rights until 2021 and has specific negotiating windows in their current contracts. Silva knew that when it was offered. If there was a chance in hell MLS could've accepted, he wouldve never offered.

It's a stupid media stunt, plain and simple.

More than just a media stunt, it's Silva prepping for a lawsuit like the USFL one but against US Soccer. He's talking about pumping money into the other NASL clubs as well.

I seem to recall that USFL lawsuit not getting the desired result they wanted. I predict that will happen here as well.

only because the jury misunderstood the instructions. they couldn't decide on the monetary damages and thought the judge was able to decide that for them. they picked $3 not understanding that the judge could not overturn that amount. Steve Erheart with the AutoZone Liberty Bowl (then part of the Showboats ownership) was league council still has the check the NFL sent as settlement. the USFL won their case but lost the war because of an idiot jury.

Final verdict on Andre Blake's injury was two dislocations on his 3rd and 4th fingers which we so violently separated that it broke the skin between them forcing 7 stitches. Only expected to miss 10 days, and already listed as day-to-day...glad to see it wasn't anything more serious, because it sure looked awful with his reaction and the video they did show of the treatment.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but this isn't the first time they've used the 49ers stadium for international competition.

It was sarcasm, and rightly directed...the field conditions were absolutely awful. Whole feet of turf were getting brought up with tackles and multiple times the ball path was altered because of sod lines.

I think that field has had turf issues in the past and there was also an ICC match there a few days ago. Maybe that had something to do with the turf conditions.

I did not notice the issues on Sunday for the Real Madrid/Man Utd. game. I wonder if they switched out the turf in between games?

Brad Guzan
Ethan Horvath

Defenders:
Deandre Yedlin*
Geoff Cameron*
John Brooks*
Fabian Johnson (out of necessity)*
Omar Gonzalez
Timmy Chandler
Jorge Villafana (not a fan but think he would make it today)
Matt Besler

Midfielders:

Kellyn Acosta*
Christian Pulisic*
Darlington Nagbe*
Alejandro Bedoya
Paul Arriola
Josh Sargent

Forwards:
Bobby Wood*
Jozy Altidore*
Dom Dwyer
Jordan Morris
Clint Dempsey

* Denotes starters based on the 4-4-2 we've been seeing. Could easily switch to a 4-3-3 too with Morris pushing wide and Pulisic/Nagbe higher

I was struggling to decide on the final roster spot but would rather give it to Sargent than somebody like Dax who won't ever really matter in the grand scheme of things. Roldan is another consideration who I think will be very good in the future.

If healthy, Zardes will be on the roster. I hate him as a player but hell be there.

It's just hard to see who he pushes out though, I'm guessing it'd be Dwyer but he brings a different type of striker to the mix while Zardes is just another guy with Pace. I also forgot about the new guy from Israel that plays in Belgium, we will still need to see how he fits into all of this.

Replace Sargent with Danny Williams, and that's pretty much my roster. I like what Sargent has to offer, but he's just 17. Lets see if he continues to shine in the U17 World Cup this fall and then maybe consider bringing him in for the January Camp first.

Everton is expected to make a Final Offer for Siggurdson this weekend. Lots of rumors out of Wales that Swansea plans to reject that offer as well, as the clubs "are nowhere close to agreeing on the finances" Swansea has forced Gylfi back into first team training, and Clement has begun to plan as if he will be available for the opener on August 12th.

I'm all for Siggurdson staying; however, if the Swans reject again and he's forced to stay I hope he isn't all pissed off and becomes a malcontent for the entire season.

It's an interesting call. On the one hand, Swansea has made it abundantly clear that they will sell if Everton matches their price, and Gylfi appears to be fine with that. On the other, the question becomes, exactly what was Everton offering previously.

If the last offer was 45 million as one site reported, then I'm not sure I'd classify 5 million as "a long way off" in terms of valuation. If the last offer was 40 million plus add ons, then what were the add ons. If half the add on for example involves reaching the knockout stage of the Champions League, it would be foolish because chances are slim Everton manages to pull that off.

If the theory is that Everton won't go over 40 and add ons, then I can see why Swansea turned it down.

US National team trivia question I saw on twitter yesterday:

I would guess Pulisic is one of them...not sure about the others. Maybe Donovan and someone weird like Eddie Lewis or something.

There is probably some guy who had 10 starts in the 80's with 6 assists that no one will know.

Quote:Ehrhart has thought about turning over the historic check to the NFL's Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame vice president Joe Horrigan says the check, colored red, white and blue, the NFL colors, has enormous value. "It's right up there with the impeachment papers," he says.
Yet, on the 10th anniversary of the check, nostalgia has triumphed over history. Ehrhart seems reluctant to part with the document, regarding it like a crushed prom rose.
"It represents a lot of achievements by a lot of great people," Ehrhart says." At the right time, turning it over will be the right thing to do."

IIRC Eddie Lewis was pumping crosses into Brian McBride. That guy could find a cross and direct it on frame.
