Not if you watch The Handmaid's Tale on Hulu. It's pretty much the other way around in that dystopian future.

Never quite been willing to pay for Hulu, always just stuck with Netflix and DVR, is it really worth looking into?

RE: Are Men Obsolete?
My wife and kids like Hulu although the commercials drive me a little crazy. They use it to catch up on most of the shows they like (it pretty much has all the shows except CBS I think?). Their original programming hasn't been all that great in the past - I tried watching 11.22.63 but gave up on it halfway through. The Handmaid's Tale is pretty impressive - it's probably my favorite original show on one of these networks since Netflix's The Crown.

Getting back to the original topic, there is a scene in the third episode of this show where the new government has passed a law where women are no longer allowed to work and all of their financial assets are frozen/gone. The book/show is definitely a feminist movement, and a lot of people are trying to tie the theme into what could happen under President Trump but I wouldn't go that far. It is probably already the case in a lot of Muslim countries (another scene has two lesbians being quickly tried and executed/imprisoned for their 'crime').

Ironically the star of the show is Elisabeth Moss (from Mad Men). She's really good in the show. She's also a Scientologist in real life.

That was a good speech that is actually pro-male. The extra security was because of threats against her message that men are not obsolete.

While many third-wave feminists are clearly, unequivocally anti-male, men are certainly not obsolete.

I don't know anything about her other than this speech but I wish all feminists would listen and take notes. It's pretty absurd that this is even a point that has to be rebutted.

Women talking about men becoming obsolete need to give this some thought:
