RE: NFL Free Agent signings
Kalif Phillips signed by GB Packers.

And I stand by my opinion. It wasn't an analysis of his numbers. He missed some time due to injury. But when he was healthy, he was a load. USM fans will remember him from this season, and he ripped off about 230 yards against ODU last season (just examples of when he was healthy). His Oline wasn't the best and teams routinely stacked the box against him. It didn't matter. Only his health stopped him.

I thought UTEP's Aaron Jones had the best argument against him. I only saw him a few times though.

If I'm not mistaken, the Packers drafted Jones, so there is a direct competition that may well decide the issue. I think they're both fine backs though.

The Packers drafted not only Jones, but 2 other running backs (BYU and Utah State). A lot of competition gonna take place.

From Charlotte's beat writer Pat James:

For those keeping track at home, here's the current list of @Charlotte49erFB players getting a shot in the NFL, per team spokesman. https://t.co/OCBIDMGnFc

Always an uphill battle for a UDFA to secure even a training camp roster spot, but it sure is great to see so many guys from Charlotte's first class at least getting a look. These guys committed to an FCS program, and before we even had a stadium. Congrats to all. I'll be rooting for them.

Some good news for Jones & Phillips: Green Bay is cutting their two veteran backs. There is more than one job up for grabs:
