Glad you put kids in quotes because they are adults. But you are not saying its Monty's fault that Wilson and Porter are selfish are you? I am assuming you are implying its a parenting issue or perhaps growing up without one parent? That is somewhat valid, the breakdown of the family has contributed to many problems in this country.

19-20 year olds are adults now?

222, that list is over 8 weeks old. The numbers are staggering – probably 12 to 1400 a year:
"The number of 4-4 transfers on Division I MBB squads has increased over the past decade This is coupled with a decrease in 2-year college transfers in MBB.
That said, about 40% of all MBB players who enter Division I directly out of high school depart their initial school by the end of their sophomore year."

This is a cultural issue not a Monty issue. The grass is always greener for many of these guys. They are often told and believe they are going to the NBA. certainly many kid major kids think they are better than the Mac. And many high major kids are not capable of playing at the level where they were recruited. Combine that attitude with high major coaches poaching players who have been developed in other programs and this epidemic will continue to infect D1 basketball.

And, yes, seven, 19-20 year olds are adults. If you can die in war you can certainly make adult decisions including bad and immature ones.

"Childhood" and "adulthood" are arbitrary numbers, nobody knows when either one is happening. We all just try and agree on some number. 17-22 may not be adults to some while they may be to others.

RE: Nick Wagner Leaving NIU
That was just the mid-season list of transfers. In 2016-17 there will be 700-800 transfers. Most guys NIU level schools get out of high school are not power conference ready. A year or two playing D1 and a year sitting out after transferring gets them power conference ready. Fans of NIU level schools go oh look how much better that kid is now that he's somewhere else. He's better because of coaching he received at NIU level school, also he's probably matured some and he's more likely to listen because he knows his times running out and he can tell that he's likely not better than the school he's now at. Is there a problem at NIU, it seems like there is but it's not a lack of coaches trying or developing players. And even if it's not a power conference school they are going to, most of those things still apply. Threloff and Anthony Johnson were ok transfers at NIU, Orris not so much.
