Yep. The Giants took Clemson RB Wayne Gallman in the 4th round. Per this tracker site at NFL.com, the G-Men from a pretty long list of UDFA's have not signed any RB's... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...-nfl-teams

RE: OT: NFL (and Dukes)
I certainly hope that Abdullah is given a chance by someone. I see him as an NFL back and better than a lot of players I saw drafted last week. The Browns, I recall, questioned Abdullah at the JMU pro day and then took a running back from N.C. State in the 7th round. If you watch his film, he's not the player that Abdullah is. That player was rated as the no. 17 back or so and Abdullah was rated past no. 50 on one list I saw for this position, though (might have been Dane Brugler's at CBS Sports). He needs to get into a camp with a team that runs a zone-blocking scheme and to be able to show his wares and he'll be fine as the JMU running backs coach said.

Unfortunately, a year ago, we saw the same thing happen with Vad Lee and he got a weekend tryout with the Giants and then ended up playing in the CFL for Sask.

Judging by tweets from several players I don't think this is a situation where Khalid is considering multiple offers. It doesn't look like he has any yet. Really makes no sense to me.

Let's hope he at least makes a camp. Like 84 said, if he gets to show his speed and decision-making in the right scheme he'll have a great chance at getting picked up. Like everyone else, still pretty in shock that Abdullah of all people hasn't landed yet. The guy is fantastic from top to bottom.

RE: OT: NFL (and Dukes)
This has to be the most disappointing non-draft/free agent signing in jmu football history. Vad Lee last year was disappointing, but it sort of made sense "on paper" due to his recent injury months before. Abdullah's situation makes zero sense, especially knowing lessor FCS RBs were taken.

RE: OT: NFL (and Dukes)
I'm pretty surprised too. As we discussed earlier in this thread, we knew it was a very deep running back pool going into the draft. I count 30 RB's who were drafted. Like Khalid, that left some pretty talented guys like Smoke Mizzell at UVA looking for UDFA contracts (which he secured with Baltimore).

In addition to Mizzell, I count another 8 RB's who have signed UDFA contracts per NFL.com's tracker, which we know is not up to date - so, there's probably more. Just hoping Khalid is one of the "probably more" soon.

I've kind of heard this as well. No actual opportunities but a slim chance we hear something where someone will invite him to tryout.

Just sucks for a great all around kid and one of the top reasons we won the championship this year.

Dalton Crossan RB New Hampshire to the Colts. He's the only CAA RB picked up that I can see.

Kendall Anderson RB William & Mary with RMCI with the Falcons.

I'm not sure who the third RB is as someone posted.

I have seen both of these guys play multiple times........I don't get Dalton Crossan getting ranked/drafted ahead of either Abdullah or Kendall Anderson. Both are far better than Crossan.

IMO, it's:

1) Khalid Abullah
2) Kendall Anderson. A close second. He's very good on a mediocre WM team. League defenses all struggled to take him down over four years.
3) Dalton Crossan

It's even a joke that Crossan is getting an UDFA before Anderson.

I agree with that assessment. I think Crossan is a distant 3rd.

JMU releases a statement about our new players in the NFL. I interpret this to mean, "that's it".

Trying to spin a positive, have we ever had eight players in the league at once? Six teams are homes to our former dukes. I love it.

And, there's potentially more on the way in the future. I think Schor, Stinnie, and eventually Marshall will all get good grades from the NFL (barring knock on wood no injuries). Then again though, it is the NFL. Nothing is guaranteed.

No and he was during my time as a fan too. It's strange to see a former player sign with a team and I thought, "wow never heard of him. i'll take it though."

RE: OT: NFL (and Dukes)
If you listen to the podcast that Abdullah did with Dave Thomas last week, he said he talked to 11 or 12 NFL teams and seemed to think he had a chance to be drafted. For better or worse, he has the same agent as Vad Lee.
