Does Alabama have some contract with the ACC so that they always begin their season against an ACC team? Duke and Alabama are opening the season in 2019. It seems like Alabama always opens against an ACC team at a neutral site.
BTW, I'm betting that Alabama is getting the lion's share of the TV revenues from these games just as Duke basketball gets the lion's share when it plays games at MSG and other neutral sites.

Louisville & Bama kickoff in 2018 in Orlando, to add to your point.

And Florida State this year, Louisville in 2018 and Duke in 2019. They certainly are a popular pick for the kickoff games.

I think you are going to see a little more ACC/SEC match ups earlier than the end of season state battles. No way ESPN doesn't try and maximize the relationship they have with both conferences. I wouldn't be surprised to see ESPN brokering some sort of ACC/SEC match up in basketball.

Usually these opening neutral site games are even splits. And it's nothing more than ESPN capitalizing on brand vs brand in house. If you are going to play these games and you can keep your share of both sides of the revenue distributions it make sense and cents. And the school shares are like a form of bowl revenue but not treated like bowl revenue which is shared more directly.

ESPN was a key part of the creation of the ACC–Big Ten challenge, and holds the broadcast rights to all the games.

You could have the Louisville/Ky game as a part of the challenge.
