Lacrosse Drives Towards the Playoffs
Before my contenders...some NCAA news, they got this new rule right...schools no longer can recruit players until their junior year...ridiculous to have 8th and 9th graders committing.
My Final Four Contenders
ACC
Cuse
Notre Dame
Duke
B1G
Johns Hopkins
Maryland
Patriot
Army
American East
Albany
Big East
Denver
Colonial
Hofstra
Others worth watching: Binghamton, UNC, Penn State, Ohio State, Yale
In the end I see Cuse, Notre Dame, Maryland and Army to make the F4.

UNC may not even make the tournament. They will need to win either @ Notre Dame on Saturday or the 1st round in the ACC tourney versus either Syracuse or Duke to be .500 and eligible.
Binghamton won't make it either unless they happen to win the AE tournament
Weird that there is a good chance that 2 ACC teams may not make the tourney - UVA being the other team.

RE: Lacrosse Drives Towards the Playoffs
Why it is important the ACC find another team for the league. You have a 5th place team right now with no chance for the NCAAs. If they had 6 teams...a 5th place team could get hot and win the ACC tourney and an auto-bid.

Carolina up 11-10 over Notre Dame early 4th Q on ESPNU.
UNC playing for their post season lives. Great crowd at Notre Dame.

UNC loses 14-13 to fall to 6-7 and will play top ranked Syracuse in the 1st round of the ACC tourney. Notre Dame plays Duke in the other semifinal.

Can UVA sneak into the last at-large? They are better than several teams listed as shoo-ins.

Probably not and don't really deserve it this year. The only ranked team they have beaten is Richmond who is 14th ranked and lost to Air Force today so they will drop.
The 8 teams listed in the Bracketology below who would be at-larges would be Syracuse, ND, Duke, Ohio State, Rutgers, Hopkins, Penn State and Hofstra. No way should they be ahead of the 3 ACC squads, Ohio State, Penn State or Hopkins. That leaves Hofstra and Rutgers who have a slightly better resume. At a minimum Villanova probably is ahead of them too with the Maryland win earlier this year.

RE: Lacrosse Drives Towards the Playoffs
I wish the MAC sponsored lacrosse instead of baseball. There is zero point for a northern school to fund baseball with the NCAA refusing to push the start of the season back, and lacrosse is a very popular high school sport in the Great Lakes.

UNC looking to steal a bid...In reality they are better than most of teams safely in

Win tomorrow and they are in lose they are out.
You keep saying this but if you take out autobids and only look at at-larges, there is only 1 or 2 should be able to be in before.
Lets give autobids (as of now) to: Maryland, Albany, Denver, Towson, Yale, Loyola, Hobart, Monmouth, Furman. You can't compare UNC to those because they are not competing against them for the spot.
From an at-large standpoint, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Duke from the ACC are ahead of them as is Johns Hopkins, Penn State and Ohio State. Hofstra who is also up for an at-large beat UNC this year as well. That leaves 1 spot available.
What I am trying to say is that they don't have close to a better resume than any of the at-larges that are safely in at this point.

RE: Lacrosse Drives Towards the Playoffs
I didn't say "Resume"...I said they are better at the moment and looking to steal a bid. They just beat the #1 team.
I'm using the eyeball test. IMHO UNC > Hofstra right now. You are trying to argue something I didn't state.

UNC just stole a bid...they didn't win a bid outright (since ACC doesn't have the auto bid) but I can't see them not getting one.

I would love it if they were snubbed. The irony of the hubris thinking the conference was too good for AQ.

If you think so. If UNC had a losing season still...they would not get one (AQ). It is not hubris, it was Maryland bolting. BTW, the ACC is the best Lacrosse Conference.

Marquette also just stole a bid. Denver will still make it to the tournament. Two of UNC, Duke, Notre Dame and Rutgers won't make this year. My guess is Notre Dame and Rutgers.

Notre Dame was a 4 seed.
4 ACC and 4 B1G teams made the field as I predicted.
