Hard to find an explanation. IMO, the talent level is there, as is the team chemistry (having witnessed it first hand in both Cuba and on a couple road trips). Just a real head scratcher. We've had far less talented teams (e.g., 2008) that made it all the way to Omaha.

Can you send me some of that stuff you are smoking.. This team is more talented than teams in the past? Not only is that subjective but totally untrue. if that in fact is true and the talent is greater than Rice teams of the past that would put the blame on another area. Hmmm .....what a dilemma in subjective analysis. Dare we say the emperor isn't wearing any clothes. In my opinion the talent isn't present on this team. If you were to take these kids and put them in UAB uniforms and watch them play you would be unimpressed except for 3 players. You are being mesmerized by the Rice uniforms.

Yeah I agree with this statement.

Dicaprio, Proctor, and on some days, Sheppard are the only position players who intimidate you as an opposing pitcher.

On the mound, they've all sucked but I think Canterino and Otto are genuinely good players. Guys like Silber belong in the NESCAC.

If we are supposedly so talented then why aren't we winning? Are you suggesting they aren't playing to win? You don't lose all of your conference series if you are more talented than everyone else.

Not just all conference series. Every single series (2-2 series might as well be a loss).

The tombstone from John Royal of the Houston Press, who is about a close to a beat writer than we have.
