Celebrating 100 years of Rocket Football
http://utrockets.com/news/2017/4/6/unive...h=football
Really awesome initiative launched by UT this morning to celebrate 100 years of Rocket Football:
UT will recognize an All-Century Team as part of the celebration. Fans will have a chance to vote for the team, which will include the top 50 Rockets of all-time, going back to the first season of organized football at UT in 1917. Fans can also take part in selecting the 10 greatest victories in Rocket history.
I can't wait to vote!

It's all about competition so I have to go with the guy who refused to be beat. Chuck Ealey.
Really, though, I have a lot of favorites for various reasons. But, if I had to pick one it would be Chuck. Maybe someone else, though, if I were more familiar with the teams from earlier eras.

Has to be Chuck Ealey with Mel Long a close second. Blessed to be able to watch those two and others play to 35-0!! GO ROCKETS!!

I never had a chance to watch Chuck Ealey play...but 35-0 speaks for itself. He's my #1...with Bruce Gradkowski coming in at a close #2. I love how involved Bruce is with this University and city. From his college playing days where I would see him every Sunday at Corpus Christi University Parish for mass to today where he invested his own restaurant right on campus, you can't do anything but respect the man.

I barely remember Chuck Ealey, but, good choice for #1 of ALL TIME. That 35-0 team with Chuck, Joe Schwartz, etc. is why I'm a Rockets fan.

Good idea.
Too bad they did almost nothing for 100 years of UT basketball.

Ealey for me. Hunt might be number two. Tom Ward and Mel Long/Curtis Johnson on D. Bruce near the top.

In my almost 20 years as a Toledo fan, David Gardner and Tom award were the best ILB I've seen...

John Niezgoda was First Team All-MAC for his 3 years(Freshmen weren't eligible) of Varsity FB at UT. He averaged 16.5 tackles/game over his career. I haven't seen anybody in a Rocket uniform play the ILB position better than John.

That would be one helluva team. Long would have to beef up a lot for today's game and most of them are probably pretty slow, being so old, but still...

RE: Celebrating 100 years of Rocket Football
Seeing this post upsets me to no end. Why was this chance missed last
year w hoops? UT can't get out of it's own way...100 year celebration of
hoops was disgraceful.
