No one's bragging about beating SC. Most of us are unhappy that the team went south after a semi promising 2/3rds of the season. The way we ended the season we wouldn't have been competitive against most teams in the post season - NCAA or NIT. But before the swoon, we played a close game against SMU, thumped SC who's still above average without Thornwell, beat UCF, etc. That same team basically was destroyed by any team with a pulse towards the end of the season. It doesn't make any sense.
.500 ain't average in CBB. SC record without Thornwell 3-3.
Isn't .500 EXACTLY average in CBB? I mean, I'm just a 99%-er, so I don't know. And I don't watch 6 games a day. I haven't even done any research. It just seems if you took an AVERAGE of all the wins and all the losses, you'd come pretty close to .500. Maybe .500 average right on the dot, who knows.
Of course, you're jumping to a conclusion based on a very small sample and disregarding other evidence. But that's not as funny as when you make these ridiculous comments.

It makes all the sense in the world... to those who have been paying attention.
Really? Care to explain? Why did the team stop caring? Why did they lose the respect of the staff? Apparently, one can deduce all these reasons by watching the games. If you can explain it, go ahead. I highly doubt you will.
Well then, there is no reason to even discuss it.

For the 2016-17 season, avg. D1 W/L% is approx. 51.4%.

That's exactly the response I expected.
You could have discussed it in your earlier post if you really wanted to have a discussion instead of flaming away.
The rest of us were having a discussion and your contribution was "It makes all the sense in the world... to those who have been paying attention." - a vague statement.

That's D1, so it includes games against lower divisions. He said CBB. But, still...average isn't .500?

No one includes non-DI games but DI basketball programs individually.
.500 is the average DI record.

I was being general in my statement and i think you know that. if you want to be the average team and be ranked around 170th of ALL D1 teams, that's up to you-only reason i could see to argue the point. I expect to be a Top 25 program. Those that don't need to stay on football side as it seems that's the way our AD dept is ran now and the way the remaining few posters on here are split
If you had argued this silly azz point 5 years ago, you would have been ridiculed to no end.

Thornwell ain't the sole reason SC made the final 4. SC didn't get destroyed in their other 2 losses. They were close losses to solid teams. We killed them...big difference there. Only folks that don't know college basketball thump their chest by bringing up the 3-3 record when in fact we were the only team in those 6 games that destroyed them.
We also played a really close game against SMU and had a shot in the first game. We beat UCF. Both those teams destroyed us in the last month.
We regressed sharply in the last third of the season and that's the unfortunate part about this season.
Yea we were really a great team at the time DESTROYING SC and no one else could do that in their other two losses without Thornwell; i I don't know squat about CBB but try to learn from posters like you. Didn't the full SC team lose a bunch of games at the end of the season? Kinda like we did but maybe not by 20-30 points to average competition.
Just one question tho: if we were so great in destroying a F4 team without the guy who averaged OVER 25 ppg in the Tourney so far (I think that means he steps up in big games), what happened to this great team?
Don't get so emotional. It's not fun when someone else throws around the comment about college basketball knowledge, is it? Maybe you can humble yourself and learn a thing or 2 from others about humility.
Anyways, you are missing my point.
We were good enough to be competitive against good teams most of the season but fell apart towards the last 3rd of the season. That last 3rd of the season is baffling. A team which played a really close game against SMU, beats UCF and beats an above average (IMO) team in SC should never regress the way it did. For some reason, the team detached from the coaching staff and the spiral is unfathomable. This team is not bad enough to lose by a combined 70 pts to SMU and UCF.
"Don't get so emotional."
Please tell me how you can read someone's emotions over the internet. I would love to be able to do that. This seems to be the catchphrase for millennials. If i were emotional, which I am not and was not, would that bother you? If so, why?

While you are at it. Print one for you that says.
HoopDreams - Wannabe Basketball Coach?
You could also print the names of the 500 plus recruits you could get to commit to your team.

.500 is the average DI record.
There you go with that football side bullsh*t again. As I said in this same thread in a earlier post. The same football side AD dept. that you continually rail on is the same group that's approved the state of the art basketball facility. And here's a news flash pally. There are many-many Tiger fans who are both Tiger football and Tiger basketball fans (me included). With your continual use of the term 'football' side as if it were some kind of disease, it's obvious you couldn't give 2 shitz about Tiger football which is fine, but how bout you quit blaming the so called 'football side' for the ineptness of our current basketball program. Maybe you need to look no farther than our previous coach as the reason we're in the situation we're in with our basketball program.
