He is doing this against court orders. The ranchers, Native Americans and others brought a lawsuit to block the Keystone Pipeline, and the judges ruled in favor of the plaintiffs and the oil company lost. This is going be a land grab and the ranchers will stand up to Trump like they did in Nevada and Oregon against Obama.

What will go to Europe is diesel, not oil or gasoline. Heavy crude makes more diesel and demand for diesel is greater in Europe. The purpose of the pipeline is to get the heavy crude to the Gulf coast refineries, which are set up to handle heavy South American crude. The big loser will be Venezuela.

FWIW, 75% of the pipe for KXL was purchased as of Jan. Still have valves, stations and other steel structures. you don't just throw what's not installed in the garbage and you don't start procuring American pipe for a contract that is almost complete. That would lead to MASSIVE damages to KXL and open us up to billions in lawsuits (on top of the mess Canada is already after).

Bottom line is that Trump ordered American steel for FUTURE pipelines. KXL is owned by a PRIVATE CANADIAN company so they aren't required to meet any "buy American" quota. If you REALLY want to go down that route call your boy, Obama.

The pipes for this particular pipeline were manufactured and stocked years ago awaiting approval of the permits etc. Should they simply scrap tons and tons of pipe and start over?
