Looking at the 26 teams in the field now, I say good riddance.

I believe that definition only applies to their mid-major top 25 polls. Middle Tennessee was in the CIT two years ago, and ECU won it as a CUSA member in 2013.

We were picked third in the preseason conference poll and finished 6th. We had two really bad conference losses that were unexcusable. I don't think we overachieved - the team that showed up in the tournament is the team many expected us to have all year.

Whether by choice or not, that definition does apply to the final field of 26 in the 2017 CIT.
