Tubby's post UCF interview - end of season
Having watched the video I'm more convinced than ever that Tubby is coasting:

The one thing he touched on that's new information is that he did t really put the existing players on a strength program immediately. He said 'we need bigger, stronger players' and then alluded to the fact he that he took awhile to bring in a strength and conditioning coach.

So (a) wtf did he have his team doing and (b) none of his regular staff can oversee an offseason weight room program?

Let's recap:

Tubby gets hired reasonably quickly after the end of last season.

Tubby comes in and doesn't immediately take the reins with his existing players and put them on a strenuous off season program

Tubby really doesn't go balls to the wall in an effort to add meaningful players to the roster.

Tubby then runs his core 4 into the ground agsinst a slaw OOC schedule and then his team takes a late season nose dive and basically quits on him.

Tubby publically complains about the fans expectations for the program when he said at the beginning of the season that he expected this team to make the post season.

The season ends with a 40 and a 30 point loss. The best player is probably leaving and Tubby, to date, has a very, very average recruiting class coming in.

I don't know, I just do t see Tubby as anything like the answer to fixing this dumpster fire.

A return to the NCAA Tourney next season does not seem realistic at this point and hope is in short supply. Nevertheless, I will buy season tickets, attend games when possible (I live in Nashville) and hunker down while awaiting better times.

It's hard to see a great way forward. Talent on our roster leaving and not much coming in to replace in and tubby not exactly lighting it on fire recruiting.

Yep. What's his plan? He didn't develop ANY depth / bench this season.

We all know that, except for very special exceptions, freshmen don't generally contribute all that much. It's a learning year for them.

Even most jucos don't set the world on fire their first year.

I think next year will end up being what this year could and should have been.

Tubby just basically took the year off.

I think we are seeing a return to normalcy. Not a great year, but it may serve as a stabilizing year. No mid year transfers, no game suspensions, minimal drama from within the team. Very disappointing the last quarter of the year, but the team did look solid when everyone was playing together. Hopefully Coach can build on the positives and teach with the negatives.

I'm convinced that he has lost his passion for coaching. It's gonna take a lot more than what he did to get us where we want and need to be. He just doesn't have enough at this stage in his career to get it done. He is on slow cruise control.

You're likely losing your first team all conference forward and replacing him with a freshman or a one year rental? I doubt the team is better next year if DL goes.

Let's see what the recruits bring to the table next season. Assuming we lose only DL, I'm actually cautiously optimistic that we'll see an improvement next year. I don't believe Tubby is coasting or that he's lost his passion for coaching. He's never been a big rah-rah guy. Doesn't mean he doesn't care. I'm all for giving him a year or two grace period to analyze what he has, fix it, and move forward.

So from solidly out of the NIT to maybe an NIT bubble team or 5-6 NIT SEED?

You'd be good with that?

It's almost as if-dare I say it?-tubby only planned to be here for one year.
