Jeffries:

Foul high to the right side.

Shows bunt. Inside pitch bounces away from the catcher up the 3rd base line, foul. No runners can advance.

Big swing! Foul tip.

Fouled to the right side. "Pitch was all the way in on the hands."

K!! "91 mile-per-hour fastball high in the zone." Grrr.

First pitch -- opposite field single to right center. 2RBI. First collegiate hit. (Had been 0-8.) Wunderlich to 3rd. WooHoo!!

Warren:

Called strike.
Ball -- Low & outside. (Showed running bunt.)
Dribbler toward the pitcher. Catcher fields it and JUST nabs Warren at first. Bummer.

4-2, Stanford, after 2.

T3:

Diekroeger - single up the middle. 2B dove and got a glove on it, but bobbled.

High foul out to 3rd. Lots of room over there.

Lazy fly to LF.

Ball in the dirt. DiCaprio couldn't find it beneath his feet. Diekroeger to 2nd.

Two more balls -- GRRR!! -- walk.

Another ball in the dirt gets away from DiCaprio ... up the 3rd base line. Diekgroeger runs to 3rd. The throw sails way high into LF. Easy score. Ugh!! 5-2, Stanford enjoys another Rice-aided 2-out rally. Runner at 2nd.

So let's have a 3-0 count! Grrr.

4-pitch walk. Grrr.

New pitcher coming in.

During this inning, the announcer had an interview with Philip Humber, who's back finishing his classwork for his sports management degree. He'll graduate in May.

Experiences in South Korea were good for him and his family (they have a 4-year-old son). But "It's really hard to pitch there."

He enjoys attending games. "I know a lot of people in the stands, now."

Talks about the "Baseball for Babies" charity, too.

Garret Gayle? What is going on. Why go to Gayle. Watch he will probably shut them out for 4 innings

RE: Stanford Baseball
If the Diekroeger name sounds familiar, it's because Mikey is the third brother to play for Stanford in recent years.

Kenny & Danny were Academic All-Americans who combined to start 217 straight games for Stanford before Mikey's arrival.

Kenny is now in the Royals farm system; Danny, is now in the Cardinals farm system.

Little League time:

Wild pitch skitters away ... all the way to the wall. Runners take two bases --scoring from 2nd and advancing to 3rd.

Let's walk another!! Grrr.

Mound visit.

New pitcher. Silber coming in.

First pitch call strike! Yay!!
Call strike 2!!
Mortar-shot Texas leaguer popped into no-man's land in short left center. RBI single. Runners at the corners.

First pitch line drive to a charging Chandler. Whew!

Awful and unfortunate Rice play after two outs.

7-2, Stanford. Heading to B3.

Another single by Myers! Two on, no outs.

Mound visit.

Rice basketball ladies lead 41-39 after three quarters. I'll be popping out to watch them in a few minutes.

DiCaprio works the count to 3-2. Lashes a streak down the LF line. JUST foul. Bummer.

Two twirls back to 2nd base.
Bouncer foul to the left.
Foul high to the right.

Another pitcher twirl back to 2nd.

LOW! Bases loaded with no outs for Proctor.

Go Owls!!

Proctor:

Check swing foul left.
Slow pitch over Proctor's head. He ducks. But the pitch hit his bat! Arrgh.

0-2 count.

Way outside. Ball.
Outside again. Ford still not biting.
"Big swing and a miss. The first out of the inning."
