Excellent situational batting, running and hitting by the Cardinal tonight, dare I say.

1-0, Stanford.

We should just go ahead and see if we can set the NCAA record for walks this year. At least we would have a goal.

Hit & run hard-hit liner to 3rd. It apparently hit the ground, so no easy double play. 5-3. Two out.

Diekroeger hits opposite field to right. RBI.

2-0, Stanford.

Myers hits ball hard down the LF line. But the Stanford third baseman is positioned right there, behind the bag. Great scouting? 5-3 ends the Owls 1-2-3 first frame. Bummer.

Two-out double into the RF corner.

2-2 pitch slow roller to 3rd, which Jeffries rolls further ahead of him. No play. E5. (We have a winner in Rice Baseball Bingo!) Runners at the corners.

3-1 count -- lots of low-and-outside pitches tonght -- and another low and outside, nearly in the opposite batters' box. Geez!!

Bases loaded. Grrr.

4-0 Stanford after an RBI single.

Amador should be benched. I don't know what was in his system for that one game @LSU last year.

Stepford is right that Otto needs to start, like, tomorrow.

First pitch called strike. Yay!!
Opposite field single. 2 RBIs. Stanford has a nifty 2-out, Rice-aided rally going. Grrr.

Mound visit.

Clay van Hook with the hook.

New pitcher coming in. (ID coming after the commercial.)

I can see on the video that it's #23, Evan Kravetz.

Amador has not really done anything substantial at Rice. Had one game against LSU where the ball was put into play at people. His stuff is average but worst of all is his mental makeup. he is mentally soft.

BTW, the weather-delayed video upgrades are working, it seems, in this telecast. 3 cameras, I believe. Well-directed. And a very readable inning indicator and Runs/Hits/Errors scorebox super. (No outs, balls & strikes or pitch count or mph, however.)

Kravetz in. If Stanford has a scouting report he is in trouble. If not he will be fine. Kravetz will not challenge hitters, Makes them chase. if they hold off his pitches out of the zone they force him to throw over the plate. That is where he gets in trouble. He has success when opponents swing at balls out of the zone

Stanford scouts offer their thanks ... and are asking for your address so they can mail you your well-earned commission check.

B2:

DiCaprio smashes on up the middle, bounds high off the pitchers glove or foot. No play at first.

Proctor loops a ball into short left-center. It drops. DiCaprio barely makes it safely into second. Whew!
