CAA Tournament
Let's get a tournament thread going even if it might be a short one.
I was listening to Spiker's pre-game show in the car on the way home, and I think they said that Tyshawn Miles is suspended for the game. They were talking about the high standards of the program and that players will be punished for breaking the rules. He said he'd give more playing time for Peck.

RE: CAA Tournament
According to the radio, he didn't come down at all for the tourney. I wonder if it was academic related or a team rule issue?

Bruiser never got KO'd in a in a tournament game. Actually, I've been following Drexel for 26 years now, and I can only remember a few coaches on either side getting ejected ever. In games involving Drexel, I remember it happening to Bruiser twice, Jay Wright of Hofstra at the DAC, and Karl Fogel of Northeastern back in the NAC days. But since the CAA has that suspension rule, it rarely ever happens anymore, and I don't recall it ever happening in a tournament game.

I was joking obviously but its a crazy game.. Reminds me of last year in one of the conference games where there was a foul on almost every play.

A 19 point swing. Ugh. This is a last place team.

RE: CAA Tournament
Since right before halftime, Drexel has been outscored by 27 points, in about 9 minutes. Epic Meltdown.

RE: CAA Tournament
I had to turn it off. Apparently the double tech on Rowe fired them up at halftime and Drexel forgot how to play. Suck for Rodney to foul out with 9 minutes left. Hope he gets decent offers in Europe.

I've been patient with this team all year, but this is a hard way to end. Crappy officiating, terrible performance by Drexel. Glad its over.

Does it really matter about Myles? He's our 4th big, of all things to be worried about...

Yes it does if it affects next year or if he will be in the dog house in the future or get kicked off the team yes it matters. Next year he will be our #2 big

I feel bad for Rodney he was 2 points away from 500 points in a season and being # 24 all time scorer on our team :(

RE: CAA Tournament
How does Kurk Lee get 0 points in the first 35 minutes on just 3 shot attempts and then 13 in the final 5 minutes? He did have a bunch of assists but this team needed more scoring from him.
Maybe it is in part that the defense changes late in games, but it seem like when we need to come back he can score at will. You don't necessarily want your point guard to be the primary scoring option, but hopefully as he develops, Lee can at least become a run stopper as well as the late-game comeback guy.

i don't think i realized how far away we are from being a good team. i was planning to ignore the whole season but...my god...there's no excuse for what happened in the beginning of the second half other than we're just awful. spiker has his work cut out for him and he better start getting it done soon.

RE: CAA Tournament
For today's games I think the story will be the officiating. If the crew we had does more games this tournament teams like Towson and even CofC could be in trouble with all of the whistles. Hopefully we get to see some good basketball. Elon and W&M should be a fun one today same with NU and Towson

Agree that it's up to Spiker to make things better, and his next 2-3 recruiting classes will dictate if this was the right hire or not.
Good thing is that in college sports, good players graduate, and bad players graduate. All it takes is a some good recruiting and good luck regarding injuries, and a team can go from being really bad to really good rather quickly. And right now, we may be envious of some of the top teams, but it's just as hard for good teams to stay good as it is for bad teams to get good.

RE: CAA Tournament
An important test is to see how many people transfer or stay this summer. if we only lose one or two players then that is a good sign that the rest of the team likes the coach ( excluding major due to his injury past).

RE: CAA Tournament
I can't figure out what JMUs gameplay coming into the game was, our interior defense has been awful all year and they killed us on that the first two meetings, but didn't seem to try and exploit that in the first half. Once Rodney and Bah picked up their third fouls early in the second, wheels quickly came off.
Not sure I trust any of the remaining bigs to meaningfully better our interior defense and have no idea if either of the two freshmen will help. Figures to be an issue again next year.
