The major problem was that JJ refused to let the team push the ball. I would say in the last 10 games we have made a concerted effort to increase tempo. Even in last nights game the positions we struggled in were possessions that got late in the shot clock. Our help defense was fantastic last night....10 steals in the first half proved that. Marshall game is huge this week !!!!

With the way this team was running fast breaks earlier this season I can hardly blame JJ. Another part of our team that has suddenly improved.
When you do it more and you practice it more you get better at it. I also don't believe the increased energy on defense is a coincidence. You are playing more aggressively it trickles down to all aspects of the game. Hopefully we keep it up and make a late push.

I submit...you play harder D when you know if you get a steal or turnover that you are allowed to push the ball up the floor. It makes it fun to play.

Practicing it does help !!! When it was not part of your offensive scheme you don't practice it.

You don't believe the team practices fast breaks?

Marshall runs some great sets but we played great defense and played hard. We earned that victory.

I don't believe they practice it as much as teams that are good at it.

The turning point was when a handful of posters all of a sudden got "busy"

The 180 degree turn is complete! Now let's take care of UTSA and go into the tournament with six wins in a row and a 20-win regular season behind us. Way to go Monarchs!

Yawn. We just barely pulled out a lucky win over the 245th rpi team in the country.

Is it better than losing to them? Absolutely.

The other teams we've beat are 181, 238, 124 and 224 during our 5 game winning streak.

It's better than a 5 game losing streak but it's hardly some sign that all is right in monarch land.

It's an improvement for sure, but we barely beat a team with a 245 rpi. Let's calm down on the back-patting k sweetie?

For someone who claims to care so much about statistics you sure don't seem to care about rpi or true measures of where we are really at.

But again, with that said, there are things to be encouraged about to be sure.

Not sure any of it will matter against mtsu though if we even get that far.

Come on Razor. Yawn over a 5 game win streak is quite disingenuous or you are not a true fan. And I am fairly certain you are a true fan. We may not be a great team but this team is playing its best ball of the season, UTEP is not the 245th ranked team based on their current performance and our underclassman are leading the way. There is much to be excited about.

I know you like your role of "saying it like it is" but give the team some credit for pulling it together at the end of the season and posing a considerable threat going into the conference tournament.

He doesn't "say it like it is," he says it like he wants it to be. He will never acknowledge that flying off the handle and degrading a very young team was premature. Just like he'll never admit that Jones is a very good coach for our level. Just put him on ignore and hope nobody quotes him, and all is good as a true Monarch fan!

It's a beautiful thing to see when your team figures it out and it all suddenly it all clicks. Since we went down to UAB and crushed those cats on the road we have been a different team. And I had that one as a sure loss based on our history there.

Very proud of the job the players and the coaches have done.

Go Monarchs!

Our best player was sick. The guy that makes our team go was not near 100%. The fact that we pulled off that win, in front of that crowd, with that travel, with the way that team is playing, with our star being sick...shows me how far this team has come. Next year should be very special.
