Great shooter! But I wonder about his style of play. It's obviously worked for him, but he appears a bit stiff and very erect on his drives, although smooth at it. He also tends to flip a drive off the back board vs actually lay it in at the hoop. Not necessarily a criticism as much as an observation. Just never really seen a player with that style of play.

Stiff and erect, huh?

I will say he's very smooth, has a great feel for the game, and has started to look incredibly comfortable out there. His outside shots are falling, but what I really like is how he lowers his head and gets to the basket, finishes extremely well, and gets to the line with ease. His defense is beginning to pick up as well as he is looking to slap the ball away from defenders. Now he just needs to work on his mid range game...

This UC team actually has multiple weapons that can hurt you. I can't believe I'm saying that but its true. Caupain, KJ, Evans, Clark, Washington, Cumberland, Jenifer are all capable of putting up numbers on a given night. Brooks and Scott give quality depth off the bench.

I know the term 'rock fight' is ascribed to playing UC and that is a reputation we won't shake soon just because of years and years of ugly grind it out physical low scoring games but this years team can actually score.

They rebound, still play great defense too.

They can hurt you inside and out. They attack the rim.

The ONE AREA that could be a killer in March is Free Throws.

I keep thinking this will go away since everyone is shooting well below their career averages but it shows no signs of getting better. This is not a team that should be struggling from the line.

Interestingly enough, SK's '11 season (freshman year) is the most similar to Cumberland's current season of all player seasons in the past 10 years according to KenPom.

So the stats are backing up your eyes here.

That's crazy. Is that among all eligible players (Not just Bearcats)?

That's correct. All eligible players, though it's narrowed down some by the fact that they adjust it for competition, so it's more likely to be high major players.

Also, his second closest comparison is Donovan Mitchell's freshman season for Louisville last year. Pretty good company...
