MD is right, def a bit of a rivalry there between many of the players. Darn good all-around balanced game from the Huskies, more impressive with the very sour note Tuesday ended on.

German has so much energy, just needs to learn a little more patience, which comes with time.

Key and Bradley getting a bit of an angry streak going at times is big for this team, can't have your 4's be soft.

That play with Bradley and Thompson IV was hilarious. Thompson did the domination arm swing in front of Bradley's face on the rebound and then Bradley bats it out of his hands haha.

RE: Eagles and Huskies
MD what is your deal? you consistently lower your expectations so as not to be disappointed? fair weather fan? You almost always predict Huskie losses--does that make you feel better when they win? You are wrong about these teams "hating" each other. Actually, I think there is mutual respect. Monty and EMU coach are actually friends.......but, like competitors, battle to the finish.

I don't believe the Huskies will get "pounded" in Buffalo........again, you trying to protect yourself from disappointment should they lose? I believe they will compete..like they have in about every game this season and it will come down to the last few minutes and the way the stripes make calls near the end....I believe they can and will beat the Bulls but am certain they will battle.

Only 11 turnovers means they are learning to value possessions and taking better care of the ball. Porter was playing within himself for the most part and with 4 assists played pretty well. Wilson is impressive in that he seems to accept discipline and doesn't pout....I think he still could have a bright future; just hope he matures over the next 6 months so the Huskies can enjoy the high ceiling of his talent unencumbered by the immaturity of his actions. Dontel is solid and trustworthy and I believe his steadiness contributes to a calming on the court when they need it. and damn, for a guy with 4 knee surgeries, that dude can sky.

This is a really fun Huskie team....I hope they keep it rolling.......

German looked like he is starting to understand the role of a college point guard...it was his best game by far. And Armstead is playing within himself better than I have seen him in four years--letting the game come to him and not forcing things...May still lead the league by far in ball fakes but not forcing bad shots off the fake..

Ball movement is much improved..and Marin is a beast underneath........JKey is playing great basketball and his and Levi's numbers combined are awesome...

I am sure there is respect but I think the wars these teams have been in have created a pretty big disliking of one another from the players. There is totally nothing wrong with that, it makes for more intensity and a more enjoyable fan experience because you know the players are giving everything they have because they do not want to lose to a rival. I actually feel AA plays better when it becomes personal.

My cynicism of road performance comes from a long history NIU has shown on the road. Maybe a bit over the top I apologize for that, but I just don't get a good feeling of NIU going to Buffalo, a place where they normally play poorly anyway, when Buffalo is clicking on all cylinders like they are now. If the Huskies are competitive in that game, I will be excited for the rest of the year. If they win @ Buffalo, I would be unrealistically optimistic hah

I don't think Monty has ever beat Buffalo. I also have become pessimistic with this team. I don't see anything good about the Wilson situation. Wilson has become a kid that's future at NIU is in doubt. I don't see him taking discipline well what I see is a kid that doesn't learn and doesn't seem to care if he plays or not. Huskies are garunteed nine more games anything less than 20 wins and over 500 MAC record would be a bad season, in my opinion.

I'm going to disagree on it being a good game for German. If the bar is set real low it was. German: 2-5fg, 0-2 three pt. 3 assists, 3 turnovers in 21 minutes

It just felt more dynamic out there, I am not sure that will show up on a boxscore.

+1 on Armstead I sure will miss him, probably my favorite player to watch.

Yesterday was the first game I thought to myself, "this team could be dangerous in the MAC tourney". The conference is not what it was last year, this thing might be there for the taking if NIU can continue to play with the offensive efficiency they did yesterday. Maybe not as far fetched to think that way as it once was.

Thought we attacked their zone well - interior passing was terrific. Love when German is on the floor, he is fun. I think he should be starting over Thomas.

Hats off the Armstead. What a terrific all around performance. He was fired up in the second half.

Crowd was disappointing, given all the promotion they put into this one. Convo would be a lot of fun if we got any students at all to show up. Pretty sad.

I bought my ticket as a walk up today. Sat in section 105. Girl in ticket booth said it was the last seat in the section. Row was half empty and there were empty seats all around me. What's the deal with that?

I'm back on the bandwagon..... that means we'll lose the next 5. LOL

My season tickets are in 105, and what I have noticed that most of the section are season ticket holders of NIU faculty. I think they must get the tickets for free or really reduced prices because they rarely show up. I wouldn't be surprised if they give season tickets to several football coaches and they never show. Whatever the reason I pick that section because it gives my kids extra room to do whatever they want

Well, he showed flashes anyway. He looks quick enough to have a lot of potential.

Definitely.

You can tell too that he is settling in because he is looking for other players now. First several games, I don't think he saw anyone else on the court getting adjusted to the game at the Div 1 level. If he does get a touch from the outside, he will be tough to stop.

RE: Eagles and Huskies
No doubt Geno could grow into a All-MAC first team player, only time will tell. I also felt that about Armstead, Wilson and Bradley. I felt Porter could become a 2nd-3rd team guy. The offense has looked better the last couple of games. I believe the fact the Huskies have made 15 three pointers during this stretch is a big part of it.

I think the biggest part is just that the ball is finally moving around. Much more rhythm and movement and thus better shots. I think this is where Highsmith has been most valuable. He makes some seemingly simple interior passes, but it really gets things going and allows NIU to play inside and out.

Two of those assists were spectacular passes that got the "crowd" buzzing. I would say cheer, but the people who are there don't really cheer. More excitement on O is good with me.

I think the main thing in the stat line is the assists. This might be the first game he has been at least 1 on the assist to turnover ratio this year. He has scored double digits but in those games he had more turnovers than assists. He gets frustrated at times mostly because he was never taught any defensive fundamentals and when he learns to be more patient he will have huge upside for NIU basketball.
