RE: How far in left field...
You trying to have a conversation with the one trick pony, Todd?
He has one opinion and he has stated it over and over and over and over. He thinks that HIS opinion is shared by all. Not so. IF I thought he'd understand it, I'd recommend that he read Graham Couch's column. He was right on point that Lester is the right hire at the right time.

I thought LG said he was leaving? How can we miss him if he won't go away?
LG - being a negative Nancy is easy. No effort required at all. Congrats. You're playing a one note symphony. And not very well.

No but just now these words crossed my mind: "Lancergolf is a true idiot. After 3 full weeks on this forum he has anointed himself the authority on everything and anyone who disagrees is a fool."
Go away Debbie Downer.

Well at least I was anointed.
8-4 is an absolute disaster, don't kid yourself. This is what I expect Lester to provide you.
Everyone is trying to shift expectations so that an 8-4 season is "good" - so that you can feel good about a bad hire. Making excuses about losing ZT and CD. So what. Every program graduates key pieces every year. Get used to it.
Just don't start trying to find a way to make 8-4 a great season. It won't be. No matter who is coaching.

RE: How far in left field...
I would only bump that up to maybe 9 wins if Fleck was here and that's only because of continuity/hitting the ground running, so to speak. No coach is a miracle worker and this is the MAC.
Then again you all but admitted to only watching when we went 13-1 so it doesn't sound like you know how the MAC works. You sound more cut out to be a Walmart Wolvie.

There is no point in "raising my expectations" for the sake of it. I'd rather just discuss things realistically since what I post as "expectations" on a message board mean nothing to the teams success.

It's the expectation of the program and coaches. If it's 8 wins then Cubit would be your hero. If that's what you expect, fine. Raising your expectations is demanding more from program, coaches and administration. Anyone can run an 8 win program, that's no one's goal.

Really? Then why are all the other teams in the league not 8 - 4? You're a joke, dude. A bad one.

Jesus. Rhetorical over your head? 8-4 is nothing to be proud of. That's what gets 10k in seats, not 30k. That doesn't get you national exposure, NY6 bowls etc. But as is all too clear everyone in just a few days has already kissed this expectations goodbye. That's the point.

Better to be silent and thought to be a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. Boomerang, you there?

So, all we need to do is raise expectations and BOOM! Success?
You're a fool. Talk is cheap. Where did I say that 8 - 4 is something to be proud of? Where did I move my expectations downward?
You think that because a team had an exceptional season, that the team should just follow every year and easy - peasy, another great season. Just because the fans demanded more.
No, what you are doing is trying to run down a coach that wasn't YOUR idea of what the program needed at this time. Just like a child, you are throwing a tantrum because others, including the actual decision maker saw things differently. Grow up, man.

Exactly. 8W is good. It's not "Cubit Era". Man, I wish! It's more closer to PJ Era. 1 Season with Barely a win, and one with barely a loss (equalling themselves out) -- and 2 8W seasons. Well, 1 7W regular season, but a bowl win made it 8W. We have a tougher schedule, not just OOC. NIU & Toledo on the road. Our MAC East schedule was very kind to us last year, and I don't think it will be this year as they will improve -- but thankfully we'll have 2 at home this time. Considering everything, with PJ, I could see 9W as "this is what we expect of you Mr $30m man" -- to go 2-2, and 7-1 -- with no injury pile-up... or better if the wind blows our way. With Lester and the change-over, and obviously no 1st-day freshman starters from great recruiting (thanks PJ)? 8W. That's not being a Downer.
Quote:8-4 is an absolute disaster, don't kid yourself. This is what I expect Lester to provide you.
OKAY THEN! Then why are you b!tching about expectations that we'll go 8-4 -- if you say you expect Lester to provide us 8-4?!
