I see the same thing probably happening at UAB, too much size/athleticism in play at this point for MU to steal one of these. Tough roadie. Especially w/ MU's Thompson just coming back from a near full season ab injury and being inserted into the lineup w/ no mojo w/ the rest of the team. Maybe in a couple weeks after he gets into shape and they get a rhythm w/ him they'll have a shot against the best teams in CUSA...Maybe..

What?? I didn't see anyone say anything that remotely would be considered crow. Crow would be losing in the first round of your hosted CUSA tournament and then setting record attendance lows for an entire conference tournament moments after telling everyone that we stood no chance against you in Birmingham.

Just take care of your own business and we'll handle our end.

I don't know about eating crow, but one Herd fan was terribly dismissive of being held to 70(imagine if 57 had been the prediction)...

Great defense last night MTSU. Season is young. Revenge will be sweet.

We'll I didn't see the game going like it did. I'd never guessed that neither team would hit 70.

We had scored 70 or more in 37 straight games. So I didn't see such a low scoring contest but I did see this as a tough game to win and a likely loss. I was hopeful we could possibly "steal" one on the road.

Lots of basketball left, a split on this road swing before 3 straight in Huntington would be huge.

Pretty sure this is a troll post...

Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense. Like HerdAlum83 said, Marshall fans on here weren't guaranteeing a win.

Good win for MTSU. It's honestly best for the conference if they keep winning so they stand a shot for an at-large in March

Don't confuse a cold shooting night with good defense. This was about as bad a game as we could play. Sloppy, unforced turnovers all game and awful shooting night. It happens. Be a different story in huntington ot a neutral court.

It was good defense man. We weren't making much, but that started because just like last season we struggled to get good looks against the 1-3-1.. They took us deep into the shot clock several times as we looked confused as how to attack.

Now, true, we did miss our share of open looks, but that extended 1-3-1 gave us fits, forced us into several bad shots which took us out of our rhythm and rattled our confidence which then impacted our open looks.

Hats off to Davis and Middle Tennessee, they are the only team who has figured us out. Now to see if Danny can figure out that 1-3-1. You don't see that defense in the NBA. I said before the game that this one would be decided on if we had learned how to attack their zone. Oh well. This is a tough road swing and a split would still keep us in really good position going forward. On to UAB.

Not when you miss open shots. Defense gets credit for wide open missed shots. We couldn't throw it in the ocean from any part of the floor. Just wait, its not long til that vaunted 1-3-1 is in Huntington, where fans will actually be there to see it in person. We will see how it goes but id bet we aren't looking at less than 80 pts. The 1-3-1is far less responsible for our loss than our lack of rebounding especislly on the defensive glass. You can't hand the other team 20 extra shots a game

Not to get into an attendance argument but that 4500 was in the middle of a snowstorm/ice storm. LOL

ITT: Marshall fans who've been getting jiggy as hell lately acting awful salty.

Don't get me wrong. If our coach had us putting up points like Dantoni has had Marshall I'd be excited. Who wouldn't? But that style rarely does well in tourney settings. Where ball slows down.

The Marshall fans behaviour has bordered on cultish if you ask me. I'm expecting Herd fans to be sporting black shirts, black sweat pants and Nike Decades.

Don't take it to the next level amigos.....don't do it.

Middle has the best team in the conference and IT'S NOT CLOSE. The only thing that'll stop them right now is them. Boredom. Complacency. A 5-20 night from the line might.

But no team in this conference. UAB last night might could've but they won't be getting those shots against Middle. Doesn't mean they'll run the table. But it wouldn't surprise me. They're playing hoops at the level we played football the last two years. Over everybody's head.

We didn't get many open looks last night, not until Middle had already stretched the lead out. By that point our guys were so rattled from the defensive pressure earlier they were rushing the open looks they did get, which led to a lot of our misses.

The defense slowed us way down, made us think instead of just play way too much. And I'd also credit the defense for a lot of those rebounds that Middle got. Many of their boards were on long rebounds, and I credit the defense with a lot of those because instead of being in position to run those long rebounds down, our guys were trying to get out on the break. They were desperate to get running and try to pick up the pace and not allow Middle to set up their defense. That's all well and good, that's how we want to play, but you got to get the ball first.

You can try and discredit Middle's performance all you want. But, that doesn't make Marshall any better. We got outplayed last night and this wasn't a game the Herd lost, it was a game Middle won. Accept it.

In Huntington, we very well may put up 80 on them. Doesn't mean that we will win and doesn't mean we'll be effective offensively. In two losses to Middle last season we put up 74 and 90. The 1-3-1 was a big part of both of those losses despite our scoring, we weren't efficient had several turnovers in both games and were playing from behind almost all of the game both games. This wasn't about being on the road, this wasn't about an off night shooting, although those things played a part in it. It was still mainly about the fact that Middle gives us matchup problems, especially in that zone.

We've got a lot of season left, and hopefully, when they come to Huntington it'll once again be a matchup for control of first place in CUSA. Then hopefully we have figured out a way to counter the zone and the matchup problems Middle presents and we can get a win. But, for right now, you just tip your hat to Middle for a good win and you go back to work at getting better.

I can't see us running the table. We will most likely have another Ga State game. Probably won't happen at home, but could be a UAB or even at Diddle. Or both.

Reverse the Curse in '17!!!!!!!!!!

But seriously going undefeated is easier said then done. There's a few teams in conference that can beat Middle on a given night but I agree that none are better than them right now.

Like the 4,500 you had against ODU last Thursday ?

Hey! Don't bring facts into this! He wants to spew BS without anybody checking him on his crap!

Facts... we had 4500 in a snowstorm. Could of been better. Oh well.

We'll probably have 2x as many fans tomorrow night for WKU just because people care about the game a lot more. It is what it is.

Just wait, its not long til that vaunted 1-3-1 is in Huntington, where fans will actually be there to see it in person. We will see how it goes but id bet we aren't looking at less than 80 pts.

Maybe. Most students still won't be back from the mid year semester break.

For whatever reason, 6 pm seems to be the magic start time for the Boro and neither game this weekend start(ed) at that time.
