Potts is 1-of-7 from three and 3-of-12 overall with only 9 points.

Upshaw only has five points.

And only 12 fouls called against Marshall (17 vs. MT).

Terrible game all the way around.

Awesome job MTSU, amazing D and great coaching job as well by Davis. Tough night for the Herd, outplayed by a mile this game. GG guys.

Marshall chokes again.

It will be a different game in Huntington.

Don't confuse a cold shooting night with good defense. This was about as bad a game as we could play. Sloppy, unforced turnovers all game and awful shooting night. It happens. Be a different story in huntington ot a neutral court.

Congratz MTSU, your length really bothered us. And no one on the Herd found a rhythm shooting. I knew if we had a chance to win this game that we would have to bring our A Game, that didn't happen tonight.

The one thing that surprised me most was that we out physicaled (if that's a word) the Herd. I thought Marshall played soft and we were able to exert our will on both ends.

Don't confuse good defense and rebounding for cold shooting. Kinda remarkable our three worst performances in the past two seasons have been against MTSU's length and the 1-3-1, no?

In fairness, it was probably some of both of those. Neither one of us did much damage to the nets.

It was good defense man. We weren't making much, but that started because just like last season we struggled to get good looks against the 1-3-1.. They took us deep into the shot clock several times as we looked confused as how to attack.

Now, true, we did miss our share of open looks, but that extended 1-3-1 gave us fits, forced us into several bad shots which took us out of our rhythm and rattled our confidence which then impacted our open looks.

Hats off to Davis and Middle Tennessee, they are the only team who has figured us out. Now to see if Danny can figure out that 1-3-1. You don't see that defense in the NBA. I said before the game that this one would be decided on if we had learned how to attack their zone. Oh well. This is a tough road swing and a split would still keep us in really good position going forward. On to UAB.

Yes, that was my immediate reaction to your offense trying to go up against the 1-3-1 defense -- that you had no clue what to do. Marshall just was off all night on offense; coupled with a lot of missed open looks (by both teams) I think it was lucky to be relatively close. Good luck Marshall... hope we win again up in Huntington later in the year.

Tip of the hat to MTSU. Their D played very well. Neither team played good offense but MTSU did a great job crashing the boards. I believe you make your own breaks, and the ball did bounce MTSU's way several times. I don't consider that luck, I think it's more like the end result of tremendous effort.

Not disappointed. MTSU is good. Marshall has to play better than that to win. On to UAB.

Rebounding was honestly unbelievable to me ... 58 to 25, that is just WOW! Yes -- Coach Davis preaches 50-50 ball effort all the time and really puts a ton of emphasis on going after the ball at every opportunity; I think that paid off today with giving tons of effort. Marshall is a good team but today our defense was on point. The struggle for us is to keep our offense going strong at the same time and not go too crazy trying to do too much and messing up. Rematch will be a great one!

Who is eating crow? I don't recall many if any Marshall fans guaranteeing a win tonigjt. We knew on the road MT was going to be a tall task.
