According to richmondherdfan on HerdNation

Quote:Read in the paper this morning that he signed an extension to stay until 2009. Base salary is 175k plus incentives if he makes the playoffs.

175k is not bad for a 1-AA coach, if I recall back in our 1-AA days, the coach was making low to mid 100's all in..

There's one candidate down. 79 to go 03-wink

You think Mickey would pass an opportunity up to take on a I-A program if offered to him. Im sure when he signed the contact he wasn't expecting a Marshall job to open up any time soon either. I think Matthews would take it in a heat beat. Lets take a look. To play a schedule of Hofstra, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Northeastern, Rhode Island, Delaware, Richmond, Towson, Villanova, William & Mary. The only 2 big games in that schedule out of the A-10 is Delaware and William and Mary. And neither would make it on ESPN/2. Now lets take a look at the schedule Mattews would coach if he were to come here William and Mary. K-State, UCF, SMU, VA Tech, UAB, UTEP. Telane, S. Miss, ECU & Memphis. I see at least 4 ESPN/2 games on the schedue and 5 if we make it to the Championship game plus a bowl game. I think thats enough incentive to leave JMU, if offered.
