Yes, but while Duke merely lost twice in the Final 4, UC won the Third Place game in both '59 and '60, so the point TECHNICALLY still stands.

What? UC only needed 4 Tourney wins to win theit titles, where Dook needed 4 Tourney wins just to get to the Final Four. So then TECHNICALLY Dook had the better run.

Really, they each made 5 straight Final Fours. Why can't you just leave it at that?

It was a different era and they both had great runs. Your comment that Duke had a better run because they needed more wins can be countered that UC needed to win their conference each year; Duke didn't. And actually UC to defend their NC had to defeat Bradley the fifth rated team in the nation in a playoff to make the tournament. So "Technically" who had the better run can be debated many ways.

Actually, that's a great point about Bradley I once used on a Dook fan who retorted Dook won 13 straight Tourney games vs only 12 for UC. He was technically right, but it was a great run to have to beat #5 just to get there.

Of course, Dook did beat #20 UNC in the 1992 ACC conference finals. Even though they didn't need to win it to get to the NCAAs.

Yes top teams in those years had real pressure on them to make the tournament.
Poor Bradley was rated #6 in nation in 1960-61 , #5 in 1961-62 and Wichita State was #5 in 1962-63 ; they didn't play in NCAA because we beat them out for the championship.
