RE: KIFFIN to FAU
It could be a great thing for FAU. With FAU's facilities and Kiffin's name, I expect recruiting at FAU to blow up.

Wow seems similar to our BP hire, 1 season, but might bring someone in pipeline the next year...

Congrats to the Owls. Honestly in terms of wins and losses things can only go up. Recruiting and growth of the FAU brand are sure to go up with Lane Kiffin's fame. If he were to leave early that only means the program has had success. I like this move a lot and the Shula Bowl is going to be very exciting this season. I'll be there in Boca. Go Panthers!

RE: KIFFIN to FAU
ya this has BP written all over it, Houston AD came out and said Kiffin wasn't a safe hire, whatever the hell that means, but regardless looks like Kiffin felt he needed to prove he is a good HC, and has matured as a person. Regardless how long he stays great move by FAU, their fanbase should really be fired up next year

RE: KIFFIN to FAU
A lot are saying one year rental but he still might not be to hot for a big time P5 school.
I'm sure he will have to win a couple years and someone pays a big buy out.

FAU by then would have built 60 million dollars in new falcilites and raised the profile of the program.

It's a win.

I can't see it as a 1 year rental situation, is FAU gonna win 10 games next year?

RE: KIFFIN to FAU
I have no desire to undermine FAU's hire (I said this on our board long before he was hired), but has there ever been someone who got so much who did so little? I don't understand the appeal of Kiffin. He keeps getting jobs without proving any success of being a head coach. As a head coach, he failed in the NFL. He failed at Tennessee. He failed at USC.

And as an OC at Bama I really wonder how many of us here on this board couldn't draw up plays in the dirt and be as successful. Hell, Bama probably had seven or eight NFLers on the field at any point offensively going up against teams that might have a couple of NFL caliber defenders.

Kiffin had nightmarish time trying to figure out UT Chattanooga's defense earlier this year.

I just don't get all the appeal for this guy.

Yeah for him to 1 year rental it he's gonna have to win a ton with the amount of baggage he has. Now sure BP had a lot of baggage also, but none of it was related to his ability to win as a coach.

I second this. Congrats to the Owls in hiring another big name in college football. The Butch Davis Effect certainly put some pressure on FAU to bring in such a big name, and they did. Florida recruiting is gonna get hot and heavy now with these new coaches down in South Florida.

Let's get ready to Rumble!

MT and wkcc have done a good job of recruiting Florida. I wonder if these coaches who will be better at keeping talent home will force us to rethink our Florida recruiting strategies??

Not necessarily, but recruiting for you guys down here will be that much more competitive and hard due to these new entries as coaches at FIU and FAU.

I suspect he thinks he recruits 4 stars going up against schools with a bunch of 2 star and some 3 stars, so in his mind it will be like shooting fish in a barrel. Win a bunch of games over two years and off he goes to his next P5 he's going to ruin.

Exclamation RE: KIFFIN to FAU
Some Owls are more equal than others, apparently. Congrats to FAU for being willing to spend money on a chance at becoming better than they were under their old football coach. Wish Ricew would've gotten it's head out of it's butt and cut bait with Bailiff so we could get better as well. Oh, well, maybe next year.
