Cant believe it really happened. Even if its a rental it will probably be a good one. Look at WKU, they have excelled with good coaches an thier profile has raised. FAU and CUSA needed this.

RE: KIFFIN to FAU
Even as a FIU fan, I think it's a tremendous hire for FAU. It's not like he pooped his pants at either of his previous FBS coaching gigs. FAU gets a lot of recognition, likely an improved recruiting class (which haven't been bad tbh), and probably some winning seasons.

I don't understand the argument against having a coach that will only be there a temporary amount of time because of success. It's just stupid. Period. If a program continues to hire coaches that leave the program in a better place than when they got there, the program will continue to grow. That's the goal. I am not sure if Kiffin will lead FAU to some 10 win seasons, but as C-USA has shown before, it's quite possible for quick turnarounds in this conference.

I'm looking forward to the next Shula Bowl already.

RE: KIFFIN to FAU
Recruiting Florida just became a nightmare for schools out of state. I can't believe this but unless a talented kid really wants out of FL there is really no easy way of taking talent out of FL with so many good coaches littered all over the state.

it's an experimental game changer...

relative to cusa, I can only hope he succeeds...

Couldn't have said this any better. Now that they got their guy, it's time to work and get better as teams and as a conference.

Congrats to Owls fans on their new coach!

Go Panthers!

Paul Feinbaum on Kiffin to FAU

"Can't find this place on a map..."

"Go to a high school, you'll be seen by as man people as you will at Florida Atlantic."

"I don't want to say there's no chance of success, although I'm going to say it, there's almost no chance of success at Florida Atlantic. It's impossible. They play in a 29,000 seat stadium, the biggest crowd this year was 13,000, you tell me."

I don't understand the appeal of Kiffin. He keeps getting jobs without proving any success of being a head coach. As a head coach, he failed in the NFL. He failed at Tennessee. He failed at USC.

And as an OC at Bama I really wonder how many of us here on this board couldn't draw up plays in the dirt and be as successful. Hell, Bama probably had seven or eight NFLers on the field at any point offensively going up against teams that might have a couple of NFL caliber defenders.

Kiffin had nightmarish time trying to figure out UT Chattanooga's defense earlier this year.

I just don't get all the appeal for this guy.

He's definitely the Sam Bradford of coaching, but if he just brings some attention and big time recruiting to FAU for a year or two, that's a good thing.

Recruiting hasn't been our problem. In terms of C-USA recruiting, we definitely did well the last couple of years as Partridge was a pretty good recruiter. If we could only coach these guys up and win! Maybe Kiffen can get to them in the two or, max, three years that he is here in Boca.

RE: KIFFIN to FAU
I see a lot of fans of other schools booing this hire, which is kinda funny. WE heard the exact same crap from a lot of folks when Ole Skip came to Ruston. Look how that turned out. And when you look at WKU where their coaches average about 2.25 years a piece and they ain't hurting. Right now Butch Davis and Lane Kiffin already have everybody on this board doing something we haven't done in a long long while, that talking about our Florida Brethren. Congrats!! I hope they both wreak havoc in the East!

P.S This guy has already been a HC in the NFL, PAC12 & SEC and he is only 41 years old. A young guy with top level experience? Surely you do jest!

Kiffin will get that stadium and fanbase rocking. He does not shy away from the media.

That's exactly what you needed at FAU.

Congrats on the splash hire !

UT Vawl fans loved him up until the minute he left...........

I agree, the FAU and FIU hires look good. It can only help to have more good coaches in CUSA to upgrade the coaching talent. Congrats to both schools, and hope to see more posters/supporters from them on the boards in the future!

What you're seeing is that big names aren't afraid to come to these schools and they're not afraid to spend the money to get them.

Which one catches fire? who knows, but these schools keep C-USA in the media...and that's something.

I'm sure he will have to win a couple years and someone pays a big buy out.

FAU by then would have built 60 million dollars in new falcilites and raised the profile of the program.

It's a win.

Agreed completely

We've just had inept coaching for years. There is always plenty of talent to be a really good G5 program. We also have great facilities and an indoor practice facility on the way

Great media market as well. Hopefully he can do a great job rebuilding for two years and then turn it over to his assistants

Our model should be like a Toledo or Western Kentucky

Continually get good college coaches who succeed and then move on. Wku's last 3 coaches are at Oregon Purdue and Louisville now. That should be our goal and there is no reason we shouldn't be able to do that

We already one in Bobby Wilder, dude runs his mouth as much as 13 year old girl.

What? When? or is it just you being a sour ass. The only time he whined AFAIK was when his team was picked to be 6th in east in preseason and i understand that.

He's probably talking about the time that Wilder took some shots at us after the series was canceled. He said Campbell would be a tougher opponent than us anyway.
