Leavitt did such a good job at Colorado this year, and he has history in this conference when it was the OBE.

I think he would be a great HC at either northern AAC university. Cincinnati especially.

Is his misstep at USF still following him around? I don't think he's at the point in his career where he will be job hopping.

Leavitt would be as close to a slam dunk as there is.

The only place he's untouchable right now is at USF unfortunately. He's a great coach and hope he gets another shot at running a team

He was born in Texas. UH should have grabbed him as their HC.

How would Cincy make sense? He literally had never coached east of the Mississippi until the USF job, and guys with only Florida ties aren't exactly fits for UC.

The guy is straight insane but he can turn 2 and 3 stars into 4 and 5 star players. Cincinnati should take that gamble if they want to win bad enough.

I would've taken him at Houston. I kinda wondered if Orlando would've been in that mode. There were early rumors that Dr. Khator's common ground with him at USF may make him a candidate.

I'd definitely choose him above any coordinator that my program didn't already have ties to. Stud head coach. Without that problem at USF, they would be building him a statue.

His Texas and Florida roots make him an ideal coach at ANY AAC school, because he'd come with a fantastic recruiting network. Great evaluator and developer of talent.

If he wanted, USF would take him back so fast (at least the fans would)

Lets not forget that he could never get over the hump, specifically UC.

It looks like the AAC could be making a run at defensive guys... Fickell, Strong... Leavitt may be the best on the board. Someone is going to take this guy.

She's not going anywhere. The academic success USF has experienced under her leadership is remarkable.

Very good hire by Taggart. Was his contract up though? I find it interesting that Colorado would want him go to a conference opponent.

sounds like they made Leavitt the second highest paid DC in the nation. Around 1.5 million. Hard to turn that down.

IMHO, I always thought he was an amazing coach. Not sure about other issues while at USF. All I know is that we could never beat him.

RE: Could Jim Leavitt be in play at any of our other openings?
I thank him for what he did for USF football on a shoe string budget. He was intense and a workaholic but I always thought he was too intense in sidelines and short with reporters which made him tough as a face of a growing program. I think the choking incident was used an excuse for many higher ups thinking he had reached his peak at USF and they needed a more likeable face for the program. No surprise they replace him with Skip which was the opposite of Leavitt in character.
I wish him well and I think he will be a great DC at Oregon. They have definitely upgraded from what they had.
