Our class is ranked 5th in C-USA and first in C-USA East Division. Also, these rankings don't mean much. Look at how they have usually gotten it wrong on a historical basis:

I think 09 was being sarcastic. For my money, I get the ratings, but in the end we have to trust the staff answering the most important question in recruiting. Can the kid play ball? They seem to be doing pretty well so far. Some misses yes, but we seem to be more hits than misses

RE: 2018 Old Dominion Football Recruiting Den
I certainly won't argue the staff has recruited well enough to compete with the lower 2/3 of CUSA, but this year I want to see definite progress toward being competitive against WKU and MT. Wish we played La Tech this year. I don't expect to beat either UNC or VT, but I don't want to see any embarrassing ass whoop ins either. I want to see some indication we are moving up the food chain and are approaching competitiveness with the best of G5.
Assuming another winning season and a bowl game, I would expect to see incremental gains in recruiting. An NFL draft kid wouldn't hurt recruiting either, not sure we have one this year so Heinicke and Pascal remain our best shots.

My hope is we can beat ECU in our series with them. We recruit a lot of the same guys, there's a turf war going on, and we need to show we are here to stay and ready to face them as equals. Beating them will help us more than beating any other G5 in terms of helping the program long term.

I think Ray Lawry has a great shot of getting drafted this year. he has ideal size, speed and the stats.

Right now, RL is the No. 17 ranked running back according to NFLDraftScout.com. As a comparison. Ito Smith of USM is No. 25. Based on last year's draft, that looks like he could be drafted somewhere in the 5th to 7th round. Let's hope he has a great year and improves his position up into the 3rd round or so.

Staying healthy all season will go a long way. Has he finished a season yet where he didn't miss a game?

RE: Football Recruiting: 2018
do yall think that once our new football stadium will be complete that we'll be able to recruit at a higher level? or do ya think the size of the stadium and conference affiliation is a limiting factor?

Depends on how much better you're talking. I'm sure it will positively impact the program but it's not like we're going to start beating VT regularly for recruits. The one thing we need to do is get guys drafted. I can't imagine a huge difference in recruiting, regardless of stadium or conference, until that happens.

Yes, they are both limiting factors. The new stadium will help but not as much as some think or wish. Still that combined with our bowl win will help some. It is just a tough world to recruit in and we do not have near as many arrows in our quiver as most of the folks we are up against. Time actually will help us, especially if we can maintain the momentum from last season and the overall forward trajectory of the program.

I do believe a new stadium will raise us up another level. Let's say from a Bachelors Degree to a Masters Degree and should really help with speeding up our move to the AAC.

That is, until tomorrow, when I split my mega millions winnings 50/50 with ODU to build phase 1 and 2, simultaneously. Folks, get ready for ODUDrunkard Stadium at Foreman Field.

I just haven't told ODU how much they're getting yet. Waiting for my lawyers to fill me in on the final payout.

Lance Boykin just verbally committed to ODU. He had offers from Purdue, Liberty and Coastal Carolina.

I know Purdue isn't exactly a powerhouse ... but we just beat out a Big 10 school on a recruit!

Always feels good. Done this a few times now. I remember specifically beating out Iowa and Wisconsin for some guys.
