I don't know who that is but you are pretty brave for a guy who I'm guessing has the physique of Jared from Subway.

Seriously, didn't realize we were a bunch of brainwashed Michigan fans that just throw a fit when someone has an opinion we don't view as good. For those who can't handle Bob, just put him on ignore so the rest of us don't have to hear your whining.

Dexter, how do you actually put someone on 'ignore' on this system?

Bob is 100% a Michigan troll.

He's going to bed tonight praying for an Eastern loss, and a Michigan win tomorrow so he can come on here and be at his trolling best tomorrow.

This forum makes my day. Nothing better than reading a bunch of comments about who has what physique, who is a tough guy, and how EMU is going to get hammered.

It's pretty simple. Say what you believe and believe what you say...don't type anything that you wouldn't say in public or to someone's face.

Anyone could write that EMU is heading in the right direction and they are going to give Toledo a tough battle but that would be a damn lie.

The other piece of advice I would give anyone is; if you are wrong, admit and own it. Life is pretty simple.

Dexter Devil, you are the man. Thanks. Some people around here cannot stand strong opinions. Good to see you again.

Secondly, I HATE Michigan! I am an MSU fan. I love State second only to EMU. MSU is going to beat U-M like usual and Eastern is going to get HAMMERED. Toledo needs to stay in the top 25, so there will be no mercy...EMU cannot compete with the top of the MAC. Not breaking news there.

I'm always lurking around just reading, and we've had our disagreements as well, its always good to have people on both sides of the discussion since it furthers it instead of turns it into a fapfest like Michigan fans do.

In the end we all cheer for the same school, team, players. And most seem to have the same secondary team in Sparty and have a hatred or distaste of that school down the road.

If I'm reading it correctly, EMU is surviving financially on MAC distributions (no surprise that is a good source of money from CFP and [ESPN] media rights, NCAA basketball tourney, etc. -- I see 1.7M for the last fiscal year), obviously road game guarantees in football and men's basketball and DONORS. Not much from ticket revenues. Mitt Romney probably carried more cash in his wallet than our gate receipts from a single men's basketball game.

I wonder if the 1.7M that we get from the MAC will increase in 2015 - 16 with increased monies coming from ESPN or if those dollars were 'baked in' to last year's budget? Maybe more monies from CFP? That number could have gone up if Toledo had made the big bowl game for G5 schools.

The amount of money donated by individual donors far exceeds our gate receipts. Our gate receipts, ALL sports, is very bad. We all new that. Attendance is poor and students do not pay at the gate for admittance so they don't contribute to gate receipts (they pay a student fee, though).

So the typical EMU sports fan: Sits home watches the game on ESPN3 or listens on WEMU, probably eats popcorn and writes a check to EMU foundation for athletics. Typically doesn't venture out to attend many games.

Some other EMU sports fans debate dunks, etc. on forums... :(

As far as donors, I see 381 listed as the number (presumably individuals) who have given/pledged 404K since July 1 or a tad over 1K per donor.

As far as a facilities building campaign the goal I'd assume it is to see if these 381 individual can give say 5M bucks (say over a few years). Maybe some big gifts for say another 5 - 7M. Where will the rest come from?

My guess is that 12M (okay, 10 - 14M to be safe) will pay for new lights, scoreboard, and press box/suites.

Money for a building?

RE: Board of Regent's Athletic Minutes
One of the 'takeaways' from the report:

If I'm reading it correctly, Rynearson has 53 seats in the Eagle Pride suites. ALL were sold out for 2015. Folks have to donate decent bucks + buy a ticket to sit there. It is a good source of funds.

In a new press box / suites, I'd ASSUME that the number of seats will be greatly increased. Should be doubled or tripled.

Sitting in those suites is a really neat experience, a special experience.

Apparently, parking revenue increase from last year, and this impressed the BOR.

Charging for basketball parking also being discussed.

My view on this (and ticket prices):

It doesn't matter.

Charging everyone $5 to park for basketball game is pennies or 'rounding error' in the athletic budget.

If we need the extra money (and we do) we can schedule more for $ for the 3 revenue teams (FB, M hoops, W hoops).

We aren't MSU where we might have 5K cars in the parking lots to assess for a fee.

IF Toledo had made the Access Bowl, the extra money to EMU would be worth MORE than our entire Home GATE RECEIPTS, all sports.

Folks, including the BOR, don't realize that gate receipts, parking, concessions, etc. are chump change in the budget.

EMU needs to concentrate on donors (individuals and big money corporate), road game guarantees, etc. as well as what is 'baked in' i.e,, the $ we get from the MAC for media, CFP, NCAA hoops tourney, etc. etc.

It may sound pie-in-the-sky, but if we win a MAC FB championship our donor support probably goes up by say hundreds of thousands of dollar.

A men's MAC tourney championship might be worth say 1/2 of that in donor contributions and local companies.

BTW, Andrew from the Eastern Echo is trying to find out from the BOR the status of the IPF...

The BOR has more important things to worry about than dunks, non-D-I games, etc.

More nickel and dime charges for the few fans that EMU has left. If 10k in additional revenues impresses this BOR then its time to get a new BOR. Frankly to me its not worth the hassle especially when you raise single football ticket prices by over 50% in one year.

Yeah like the EAA and voting increases in food and dorm costs to the students.

Couple of very noteworthy items:

1). Fundraising went from approximately 300K to almost 750K, an increase of 168% (from FY 15 to FY 16).

2). Men's basketball is getting a renovated locker room using guarantee game $.

3). Also getting new infield turf for the baseball stadium.

4). Some new loge seating at Rynearson.

5). Some repairs to Rynearson required for safety reasons.

For anyone interested, here are the UofM ATHLETIC budget numbers: 161M.

http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/inde..._ann-arbor

Isn't the EMU (total) budget a little over 300M? (less than 2x the UofM athletic budget)

For those who actually read these meeting minutes there is some very positive stuff in them.

Fund raising was soaring even before the FB team reached its heights.

Also, season ticket sales for FB (and the loge seating) were increasing nicely. 2017 should be a banner year.

I like the numbers I see for future road game (FB) guarantees. In 2017, we get 2M (combined) from Rutgers and Kentucky.
