Sugarcoat things however, but the MAC looks pretty bad this year a crossed the board.

Sorry MAC brethren. Toledo lost a lead late at home against Green Bay, went to OT, and lost by 1. Several things went wrong for us down the stretch & in overtime. Drops us to 3-5, but 4 of our games have gone to OT (have to be leading the country at this point). Hopefully we can take care of business on Wednesday when we host Detroit, who's 1-7 with their only win coming against DIII Adrian College.

Toledo is either headed for a pretty down season or we will end up being one of those teams nobody wants to play in late February/March...

Edit: Hell we are also 9-17 vs. teams RPI 100-200 for a combined 10-30 vs. RPI top 200 teams. The MAC looks terrible this year.

MAC top 100 RPI wins as of 12/4:
- 79 Sam Houston St(3-3) vs Ohio

that's it.

To be fair, I'd be more interested in our record vs. top 100. At first glance, I don't think we've played all that many top 100 teams at this point (although I have a feeling there are a few wins out there that will be top 100 wins once the dust settles). It seems like most of the games we've had have been against teams outside of the top 100, or top 25 teams which is a whole different animal.

We are now 1-18 vs RPI top 100 and 11-37 vs RPI top 200 so it's only gotten worse.

Move to stop using RPI as our meaningful metric. Secondary motion: Use Pomeroy rankings.

I agree Pomeroy is a vastly better metric. Unfortunately, it requires a lot more data mining (time) to compile conference wide statistics as there is no website (unless you are a paid kenpom user) that breaks it out nicely. CBSSports does all the work for me in regards to that for RPI.

Either way I'd argue there would be significant overlap between the RPI top 200 and Kenpom 200. The way the teams are ordered might differ greatly, but I'd bet a very high % of the teams in the RPI top 200 are located somewhere in the Kenpom top 200.

It appears like we're gonna be limited to a few "Kitchen Sink" post-season tourneys again this year. One auto NCAA and one NIT, if it's an auto.

With the lack of good wins it is surprising that Ken Pom has our teams rated this high. Only two teams out of the top 200?

For what it's worth, the KenPom rankings will still have some data from last year until "73 days from the start of the season. This season that is January 23rd."

Kind of surprising to see EMU leading the charge when they have 2 non-D1 wins in their 5-3 record. They did play Pitt tough, kudos to them.

AS OTHERS HAVE SAID MANY TIMES BEFORE ... non D1s do not count in the ratings. .. In the eyes of the RPI EMU is 3-3.
