At some point you'd hope this starts creating more traction in recruiting.
Beating Rutgers certainly won't hurt those efforts. I really like Jackson by the way as a QB. Good program that teaches solid fundamentals and academics.
The Coaching staff is out fishing for recruits over the bye week, hope they catch a big one :-)
At the end of CC interview, coach mentioned he received a call from a recruit (sort of :-)

Sweet - ETough will like the multiple offers including one from P5 Syracuse Yes!!
Congratulations EJ!
I do. I also like the EMU letter from Creighton that goes out to these kids. Very well written.
Looks like a good prospect. Versatile and hits really hard, probably a future Safety or Hybrid.
Welcome EJ!

???
(Luckey, think you need some decaf).
Ron Cooper holds the record for getting the best class. Doubt that record will be broken.
Cooper used to recruit against the B1G and go for top 25 kids in MI and get a few.

Well if you're just talking whether CC can improve on his past classes there is still time to do that:
2014 class ranked 124 nationally 11th MAC
2015 class ranked 115 nationally 10th MAC
2016 class ranked 121 nationally 10th MAC
2017 class ranked 123 nationally 10th MAC
And that's with a lot of guys who aren't here anymore or never showed up.
Personally I would be happy with improving on the above for the 2018 class which is about 50% committed and completed right now. CC and staff have done a solid job developing the talent they've brought in.

I agree. What we see in recruiting doesn't correlate to what we're seeing on the field in 2016 and 17.
This suggests that we have a very good coaching staff: CC, Neathery, Bullough, etc.

Steve, no biggie, but can you add EJ Williams to the commit list on page one when you get a chance? Thanks.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
Everyone knows my feelings, so I won't repeat for the 100th time. At this point, bottom line, we should be at least in the middle of the MAC pack in recruiting.
Just bring in 3 Juco starters and I'll be happy. OT, TE, WR. Throw in a stud Juco QB and/or somehow lure Grissom back, and that would help too.

Agree. What we know about Grissom, and I don't, is was he a qualifier out of high school.
Based on that, I'm not assuming he will be recruited this winter. I could be wrong.
Remember there are say 3 possible outcomes:
1). He did not qualify and can not play FBS ball until he graduates from JUCO.
2). He qualified, but wanted to opt out of his LOI and be-recruited by other schools.
3). Or crazy, he qualified, wants to play JUCO for a year and then take over for Roback next year without redshirting. I believe there is nothing to prevent a qualifier from playing one semester at JUCO and then transfer for spring ball. Right?????

Steve, thanks for clarifying his three alternatives. My guess is #1. I'm sure Creighton is re-recruiting Grissom for class of 2019 and Kilby for 2018

Based on Kilby's tweets, he seems pretty excited to be getting offers from other schools (BG, SMU, ApST, ECU). Doubt he comes back.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
Kilby is NOT coming back to EMU. He is now considered the #1 Juco TE prospect, and #2 OVERALL Juco prospect. 4 stars. He'll probably have over 20 P5 offers, if not more. Kind of surprised he only has SMU and ECU offers at this point? https://twitter.com/GridironRR
......and he loves the attention.....no surprise for a 20 yr. old millenial..................https://twitter.com/nigelkilby_82?lang=en
Need to be recruiting other available Juco TE's relentlessly.

And don't forget DT or DE. However it appears we are "scouting" some Div I bounceback QBs currently at JUCOs.

On the broadcast, Ron Rubick said he "got in troible and left." Sounds like he was dismissed for behavior issues, at least from that quote.

I still think that kid is gambling with his future. He's trading in a certain starting job with a ton of catches for an unknown future, possibly at a big-name school. Does his ego need that much Glory? If so, good riddance.
