His Twitter bio says he's a 3-star, but I'm not sure on which site (it's not 247).

He is a 3 star on 24/7. More importantly he has offers from almost half of the MAC and some others like Army, Marshall, and Temple.

Apparently EMU coaches are in-home with Whitmer tonight:

I'd think that is encouraging. If he was going to L'ville or elsewhere this visit might not happen.

Really good athlete, great hands, great on TE screens, looks really comfortable split out wide. Listed at 6'4, 230.........put on 15-20 lbs for a good looking future pass catching TE.

Weird. Officially visited Louisville, but still not showing an offer. They're probably slow playing him as they try to land higher rated guys. May backfire.

I'm going to guess:

EMU offers for mid-year transfer while L'ville might be Plan B for February?????

I'd love to have him. Looks like a really, really nice receiver. Not the blocker that Odukuya is, but having different type TEs is a good thing.

Oh, would he have looked good on the 2017 team!!

This prospect had his OV. I like his 'tape'. He is at San Mateo, same JUCO as two of our 2017 players.

Kobie Beltram from City College SF LB in for OV this weekend. We have offered other players from this JUCO where we got Porter. Staff really pushing to add one or two JUCO LBs. Another JUCO possibility is Tyree Thompson a LB from LA Valley. Staff has a number of potential JUCOs in the DB, DL and LB who do not have official offers yet depending on who accepts.

Garrett Sapp a high school TE from TN has his official visit this past weekend. Also verbals Timarcus Simpson and EJ Williams visited. Sapp hudl

He had to know Frost was leaving........duh.

Honestly, Kilby blew it, good luck to him, we've moved on. Really like the big new TE commit, and it looks like we're working hard for another. Kudos to the staff for making it a priority finally. Huge Kudos if they land either of the 2 guys they're still pursuing.

I really like Whitmer. Looks like he can really catch the ball. Very tall for a TE.

Go get the Kainer kid! Versatile dual-threat QB, or TE, from a very high level TX high school program. Injured for part of his Senior season, so flying under the radar. This is exactly the kind of DITR you want in your program.

Probably walks on campus with a more advanced game than all of the QB's on our current roster.

I like the JUCO TE we have unless we're thinking about him as OL which he has played by the way. If he plays TE I would like another high school TE kinda like one for now and one for later. We need to spread out the classes at some of the positions. By the way Nunez is doing a solid job recruiting his positions as ST/TE coach. And I don't know who is responsible for JUCO recruiting since Grubb left last year (Meadows maybe) but they are doing a solid job of lining up prospects for visits. Really liking the class so far if you add Grissom and the greyshirt RB, yep TE, maybe a K/P, JUCO WR and JUCO DL and a few LBs and I'd be happy.

Speaking of JUCO WRs we may in on this one. Product of Trotwood OH high school.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
Yes, I think the good news is that JUCO recruiting appears to be strong. For a program like EMU, we can not thrive, yet, without strong JUCO recruiting.

We get a lot of solid performers from the JUCO ranks.

CC and two assistants visited him in another state. They must really want this young man.
