And a negative commit, Nigel Kilby to L'ville as many suspected.

My guess from what I saw on the tape:

Seems like an inside LB. Didn't seem that fast, but hits hard and very sure tackler.

Perfect inside backer in a 4 - 2 - 5?

That's my take...

As long as those are all HS kids. WR is the only position emu should consider another JUCO.

I would be surprised to see another TE, unless the last candidate is too good to pass up and only a high school player.

I still like an 'impact' JUCO WR (if it was as easy as going to the grocery store and picking one off the shelf).

Think I'm with E'Tough that DL, if we go that direction for an additional recruit, could be a freshman as we have good depth for 2018. Need to be thinking of 2019.

I have no problem with adding a JUCO OL.

Forgot another linebacker juco or frosh, for OL I'd be happy with a high rated high school OL like Alex Howie.

We are at 15 verbals not counting Grissom and Mackey the FL greyshirt. Ken stated that CC was looking at a class of about 19 at one of CC's luncheons. I'm liking this class so far. Very solid and athletic plus addressing weak spots from last year.

Agree.

One of the things I'm noticing, at least with EMU, but I suspect others, is that recruits better be prepared to sign next week or the train may pass them by.

If our numbers are accurate, '79 has identified 17 possible signees next week with only say a couple open scholarships. I assume Grissom needs to resign but he is a mystery to me. I'm not sure if his LOI from Feb. was canceled.

Might be a couple signings (if not all spoken for next week) in February or in spring if openings occur.

I just hope recruits know how to play this changing recruiting landscape. 03-idea The days where schools like Florida State sat back until Dec and Jan and made a big play for available recruits is over. Other schools, I believe UofM, filled (or mostly filled ) their class usually before Dec 1. While we still tried to complete filling our class in January, UofM was already working hard on the next recruiting class.

Maybe he is quicker than I thought. He surely looks like a really good tackler. He's getting some rave comments.

I'll take Odukoya and Whitmer. 2 for 1; similar size, versatility, and pass catching skills; ........way better blocking.

Good luck to Nigel, but the grass isn't always greener. Hopefully it works out for both EMU & Nigel.

Really good 4-2-5 MLB commit. Should be able to play immediately in a rotational role. Addressed a need as well with LB graduations.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
BTW, one thing about scholarships and signing period.

In the past, signing period was after, by about 6 weeks, after fall semester ended. Some player transferred for various reasons. Coaches by January kind of knew 'the numbers' for scholarships based on attrition after Fall semester.

Now it is different. I assume the staff will try to give out all available scholarships next week based on what they know and THEN give out 'new' scholarships in February which come open during the holidays as every team has some attrition.

Still working that Canada angle. Raw, but obviously great size, pretty good athleticism. Get him some good coaching from Bullough and should definitely be able to plug him into the DL rotation. Worst case 10-15 plays for depth. EMU his only D1 offer so you'd think he'd be jumping on it?

Looks like he's headed to EMU for his official visit. 10 degrees and snow, so not the greatest time, haha. Under-recruited because of his size so Bullough should be able to land him, if a D1 opportunity is important to the kid.

Only thing 'wrong' with this kid is his height. Great motor, uses his hands very well, plus athlete for his size. Would be a good commit at DE, need a little more depth there as well. This kid could challenge for rotational time right away. Bullough obviously going after him hard.
