Not a significant difference between these three to really squabble with the 'posted' (which is always inaccurate to a degree, but $ is $) figures but maybe my boy Geo can help me out with his pana-shots of the joint for these games.

the WHITE OUT looks cool!

It's senior day, airing on ABC, against a top 25 opponent, and a revenge game. The weather should be great. This needs to be a huge crowd.

What does unacceptable mean to you?

Are you going to leave if you don't see 50,000 fans?

Are you going to cry?

Are you going to call for Bowen's ouster?

Never got an answer ..... 07-coffee3

Cuz it didnt deserve one.

Actually the first question is in no way rhetorical the next three are giving possible reactions from the OP, the OP could have a different answer, I would like to know what it is.

I am always searching for that person at the game that came because they were challenged or shamed into coming. I still have not found one.

I have INVITED hundreds of people to come to have fun and enjoy a Tiger have come, hundreds have come and most have come back again.

Absolutely not. This should not be a pie in the sky number. I seem to recall that we came close to 50k in 2003 against a mediocre South Florida team for our Thanksgiving game with another early kickoff.
How often are we on ABC?
How often do we host a top 25 team?
How often do we have a chance for 8 wins in the regular season?
This is a statement game for the team. It should be a statement game for the fans, too.
Have we ever had less than 50k in recent memory when we have hosted a top 25 team? We've always had over 50k against Ole Miss, and had 54k against Louisville a decade ago when they were ranked.

I did respond, but you either did not see it or did not quote it. The answer was a categorical "no" to all of your questions. I didn't start this thread to complain or to start fights. Rather, I started it to encourage attendance given the enormity of the game on Friday.

Although the game is early, the weather will be beautiful.
Although it is on a Friday, for most it is a holiday.
Although many will be shopping, others will have shopped earlier in the morning (and most people do not actually shop on Black Friday anymore).
Although some will be out of town, many will have cabin fever and be ready to get out of the house.

Again, this is a revenge game, senior day, on ABC, and against a top 25 opponent that has beaten two top 5 teams (not to mention one of our chief rivals in the conference expansion race). We are bowl eligible and in the midst of an unprecedented winning era. We have drawn almost 50k on a Thanksgiving game against a conference opponent before. We have never drawn less than 50k against a top-25 opponent in recent memory.

It might not happen, but this should be a game where we draw 50,000-- and that was the only purpose of the thread.

It will be quite embarrassing to have 35k on ABC against a ranked opponent who could be fast becoming our rival. Let's get out there! I'll be there with 2 others...I think we break 40k

If sections 116, 117, and 118 continue to be basically empty, it's going to look terrible on TV. Corners are crucial. Students have done a good job this year filling their corner. It is what is is, though. People think being on the "home" side makes them a better fan, so that's where most buy. Oh well.

RE: 50k for Houston
Picked up an extra 2 today for the niece and nephew - that'll make 8 of us there Friday.

I believe they mentioned on the Tiger podcast on the Commercial Appeal that it looks like we'll finish 2nd in the conference in attendance behind East Carolina this year. Keep that in perspective folks. Houston's stadium only holds about 30K, Cinci holds what, maybe, 35K. Liberty Bowl is a huge stadium - 30K is a sellout at Houston, but only half full in Memphis. Makes it look bad, sure, but anything north of 30K is really good for our conference.

Go Tigers!

ECU avg 44k, Houston avg 39k, USF avg 37k+, Mphs 37k+ We need to get 3,000 more fans for this game than USF does for UCF rivalry game to be 3rd in conference.

Houston isn't averaging close to 39k if we're talking actual butts in seats. Our announced average is pretty close to reality. Houston's upper decks are empty minus a couple games

Okay, so the Liberty Bowl is still 20K bigger. What's your point?

The point of my post wasn't to be 100% factually correct. I was obviously exaggerating to make a point - not everyone would catch that, including you. Don't feel bad about that, though. The point was, UH or UC can have 30K at a game, and their stadium looks nearly full. 30K at our place is half full. To be equivalent in terms of how full the stadium "looks" to a 30K crowd at UH or UC, the Liberty Bowl would need 45K.

Now feel free to go about your day nitpicking other people on the internet. Sounds like fun.

All I know is I've been to every game and the only announced attendance that I know wasn't close to actual butts in the seats was the S. Florida game.. The Temple and Tulsa games had a lot more seats filled..

Good Grief!!!!!!!

The above conversation and others just like this on other threads I've read today remind me why I rarely bother read this message board anymore. I used to be an avid daily contributor (from as far back as the late 1980's), but, like so many others, I grew tired of the senseless and endless nit-picking and backbiting nature of my fellow Tigers fans.

It has totally ruined the enjoyment and entertainment I used to get reading and responding.

Maybe I've just grown less tolerant of this kind of bull$h!t in my older age.

Wish it would just STOP.03-talktothehand But I guess that's too much to ask. 03-no
