RE: UCN NIU game thread
They run the weave about twice a game that's it. They run the motion offense which so do the majority of teams. If Highsmith and Armstead don't miss 26 shots combined the offense looks great and let's not forget they still scored 82pts on the road that has been unheard of in past years.

I know. This team definitely has talent. Can't wait to see what this team can do with a little more experience and when things really gel.

Its all about maximizing the offense, I think they run the weave probably at a half dozen times a game. Why just throw possessions away? No reason for it. I do think Coach Montgomery will have to adapt to a higher skill level also, there is talent on this team.

I'm starting to worry Monty is not tough enough on these guys. I think he is trying to keep everyone happy. Hold these guys accountable if your not producing you can't be left out there to keep jacking up shots. No way they should've lost last night.

He definitely has some personnel decisions to make before the conference season starts.

Guys, it was a bad loss. Forget it and move on to the next one. Jesus, pace your over analysis, it's a long season.

RE: UCN NIU game thread
It really wasn't a bad loss! It was a opportunity to win that they let slip away. NIU has won a total of 15-road games over the last 5-years that's just unheard of! We have a huge problem with winning road games so to see it may continue to be a problem is disturbing and dissapointing. If you can't win a road game when you only have 8-turnovers, shoot .800ft, out rebounds and get 82 shots what road game can you win? It is Panic time! And there is no getting around it. Next road game is re-match at Idiana St then Minnesota then FIU and South Florida. Start conference at Miami. This is a serious problem!

It depends on what you mean by bad loss. Was it a bad loss in that NIU should have closed the deal, yes. Was it a bad loss to lose to an opponent of the caliber of CS-Northridge on the road? Hell no. I mean NIU was an underdog
A bad loss would qualify as a loss to cal poly in the first t-giving tourney game

If you can't win away from the convo you can't win the tournament.

I guess I am just a tiny bit worried for a different reason. I don't really see this as some extension of road woes. It was a tough opponent NIU went up against last night, my biggest worry is just the offense. It just seems like to me you have 5 guys out there doing there own thing, absolutely no cohesion. To me that had more to do with it than it being a road game. Porter has been a very pleasant surprise, and seems the most court aware of any guard. I guess the upside on that is with how disjointed the offense looked at times, how poor the FG percentage was, NIU still put up 82 points (although admittedly against a less than stellar defensive team). However, for that shooting percentage to go up, the ball movement has got to get a lot better very quickly for some more open looks. I am not hitting the panic button, just a little concerned right now. I thought German could be that calming influence, but he is going to need quite a bit of time at this level to get settled in.

Losing to Cal State Northridge is a bad loss for a team that has aspirations of winning the MAC. Northridge is not very good. The fact that Vegas had us as an underdog tells us we haven't proven ourselves to be more than an average team that cannot win on the road.

I just couldn't disagree more with that, we may not face an offense as good as CS-Northridge all year. They are not a good defensive team, I admit that, but they are a very very solid mid major team.

RE: UCN NIU game thread
NIU came into last nights game shooting.480fg which is outstanding. They now are at .435fg which is good. Three point shooting is bad at .317%. NIU can and needs to average 10 made 3's a game. Last year they averaged 7. Pauga only has two and Wilson has not made one.

Does that include Roosevelt stats? Those need to be disregarded.
