Memphis beat Kansas like a rented mule.

You did. Probably one of the top 3 wins in your program's history 07-coffee3

Neither the Austin American Statesman nor the Dallas Morning News is reporting such yet. After the season is what they are hinting.

It is starting. This report from SI says the boosters are putting pressure on UT and their choice is Herman.

Strong's firing is a certainty, but I'm not convinced that the decision on his replacement has been made. Herman may prove to be the choice, but there are others that should be considered.

Herman is the obvious front runner though.

If I'm Tom Herman and if my choice is between LSU, Oregon or Texas...Texas is the last option...it is #1. LSU, #2. Oregon or #3. Stay at Houston. Why go to that Political Hot Mess in Austin.

Herman to Texas, Strong to Rice, and Bailiff to Houston.

Not gonna happen, but what kind of record do you think Bailiff would achieve with all the talent at Houston?

While the statement is accurate, I think it is a little misleading. Kansas and Texas had played only twice prior to the formation of the Big XII.

1901: Kansas 12 - Texas 0
1938: Kansas 19 - Texas 18

Texas took every meeting during their time in the Big XII until yesterday. But they didn't play one another between 1938 and 1996.

Perhaps I only say this because the fact makes the futility seem more sisyphean than it is in reality.

LSU is also a political shark tank; they almost fired Miles 5 or 6 times before they actually did. Oregon's defense needs a 2 or 3 year rebuild before the team is ready to be back to the Chip Kelly level of success, and if the Ducks beat Oregon State next week, Helfrich likely gets another year anyway. LSU and Oregon also have more difficult paths to the CFP.

If enough raw talent is on the roster at Texas, then that job is closer to being a win-now job than the other two.

Understand what you're saying...but see Texas having more and larger sharks than LSU.

I would go to Texas & be able to pick & choose which recruits from this class that I wanted to take with me. He already has a strong recruiting base established in Texas.

If I were Strong, I would get the heck out of Texas.

RE: So long Charlie Strong...
Charlie was doomed to fail. He wasn't wanted by key boosters because they wouldn't let him do things his way. Charlie may act upset but rest assured he is glad to be getting out of Austin. Vickie and the girls didn't want him to take the job in the first place. Vickie hated the "Texas tradition"

As a Louisville fan I'm glad he left and took his boring offense with him. With that being said I know Charlie will land on his feet.

RE: So long Charlie Strong...
Charlie was doomed to fail because he is a horrible game day coach who makes really bad assistant decisions as well. Other than Les Miles, I have never seen a coach make such stupid game day decisions in such a high level position. One time the officials had to talk him out of declining a penalty as declining it gave the other team a first down. There have been repeated game management failures such as clock management and getting the plays in. I'm not sure I've ever seen a team look more stupid. They simply are so poorly coached they don't know what they are supposed to do. The defense, his specialty, has regressed.

I believe he has let go all but two of his original assistants. When he brought the crew in, most of us were wondering what he was thinking.

Agree 100%. The alumni and boosters are way too meddlesome at texas. It's rumored that Sabah turned down the huge paycheck there because he didn't want to deal with the boosters. If I'm Herman, I'd consider Oregon. He's from the west coast, he can get a big payday there, top notch facilities and great sponsorships; all good reasons to go out west.

Herman is overachieving relative to the talent he was left with by Levine. Baliff would have UH losing to Texas State and Tulane, which isn't easy. Rice gave up 44 to Prairie View, which is even harder.

Strong likes the frills that go along with jobs at Florida & Texas. Private jets instead of driving & stuff like that. Louisville didn't have the frills & that's was a huge turn off for him. I don't see him considering UCONN.
