RE: He gone
Everyone said UH was done after Sumlin but look at the rebound recently. I have no doubt Houston will be fine but Herman may have already peaked here for the time being. He could end up like one of those coaches that stayed too long and never got promoted (Southern Illinois basketball coach a decade ago comes to mind).

Not that I don't want him to stay, he has reestablished everything Sumlin built that Levine almost destroyed.

With that said Houston is a good job and with talent it will draw a good coach.

I agree. The problem for all of us is that we usually have to take a chance on an unproven OC or DC. Fuente. Herman. Norvell. Frost. Montgomery. Etc.

I think the AAC is approaching the point where successful MAC and Belt coaches come into play (dependent on how stable the P5 is from year to year)- we aren't just limited to P5 coordinators

So who replaces Herman? Would they promote Applewhite?

The optics of hiring a failed Texas coach are terrible and would completely reverse the momentum the program has.

To quote Disco Diaco, it would be utterly...

You don't think we'd try and promote Orlando? I feel like he's been more instrumental to our recent success than Applewhite.

If I were Morris I wouldn't touch that job. I'd stick around for another 2-3 years, pick up a program that isn't in absolute shambles.

Orlando told the boosters he has no interest in the HC job at UH, that he would rather follow herman and remain a coordinator for a few more years.

Only way i see it changing obviously is if the school that hires herman says no to orlando or herman decides he doesn't want him.

Orlando gets another accolade.

https://twitter.com/Joseph_Duarte/status...9291361280

Many people that I've talked to believe he's in the mix... but who really knows how this is all going to go.

I think its essential that we keep the culture we've built, which includes branding and relationships with our players and recruits...

#1 on the list is Tom Herman. I'd put Orlando after him because of his wizardry with the Xs and Os. Hiring someone for their CEO skills (like a Levine) is the wrong move. Our success is strongly predicated on good defense.

Well damn, don't see either of those situations happening. The man can coach a defense!

I like that he was honest about it and honestly i understand why he would follow herman. If herman is pull able to pull off what he did at UH just imagine what he could do at a big school. So I'm sure Orlando sees a sure opportunity at a NC if goes with herman seeing as they already work well together.
