The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school.
The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury.
The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season.
The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.

Beebe never used his redshirt so that's what he's using this year. I believe one of the first press conf they said that. I would assume Albert smalls is using his redshirt this season too? I know he played the first game but don't believe he played the whole thing.
If you play a single snap it burns your redshirt. Now, it's usually easier to get a medical redshirt if you haven't used your typical redshirt. Tommy played in 2 games in 2014 and still got a medical redshirt because he never used his regular redshirt.

If you have a redshirt year available, why would you need a medical redshirt?

You would need the medical redshirt if you played a single snap that year

RE: Medical Redshirt
Beebe can just take his regular redshirt, Smalls would have to apply for a medical redshirt.

Anyone know what Small's actual injury is? Don't remember it being announced

My guess is shoulder with the type of sling He had on. The type I've seen people have rotator cuff surgery.

If he tried for the redshirt and was denied, he wouldnt be in the NFL mix until 2018, and he didn't want to lose a year.

How delusional are athletes? Who feeds them this crap? It's amazing at mid-major college football that egos are this over inflated. There is some legitimate talent in the MAC, but Drew Hare and the NFL strikes me as hilarious and WTF all at the same time. He isn't, wasn't, not going to be the best QB on this 5-7 or 4-8 team.

We just exited an era of our best two QBs in a long time and Harnish hung for a little while in a perfect situation for him to be in (holding a clipboard behind Peyton).

I'm all for "why not give it a shot", but Drew is going to have to pay scalper's prices to get anywhere near the combine. Please....

You realize Trevor Siemian is a starting QB in the NFL right? Looks at these college stats http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/play...ian-1.html I think he only had a few teams even show up for his workout.

We kicked Trevor Siemien's arse.... Remember? He did not look like an NFL starting Quarterback when we played NU... It's worth a shot for Drew Hare. He's got nothing to lose by trying.

Don't recall seeing a diagnosis from Cowboy95 for Graham, Bouganon, Mays or Smalls.
