Bolded, I have to agree. The AAC has been, and will be again next year, a much better conference than this year's performance. It's been the perfect storm of injuries and coaching changes that have kept some of the traditional leaders down. UC has all its goals within reach with just four game remaining. Carpe diem.

Did we not win a share of the conference title in the first year with Louisville?

We won the "regular season" championship the first year of the Conference.

Not beating our chests as kings of the AAC. We haven't been as good a program as we were most the time we were in CUSA, that doesn't make the AAC any better. UC did win a share of the AAC title, in the best season the AAC has had as a league. If UC gets back to the level of program it was in the 1990s, it will win the conference championship almost every year.

CUSA was a better conference than the AAC for sure. It had more brand recognition teams.

My point in bringing CUSA up was to say we are in a similar role now as we were in the AAC: top dogs and targets on our chest. This year more than ever.

I'd still rather be .500 in the old Big East if I had a choice.

RE: UC vs Tulsa game thread
The original CUSA was clearly a "High Major" BB conference.

The AAC is clearly a "mid-major" conference and that's as good as it will ever be. It will always be a 2-4 bid conference, with the odd year getting 1 bid and maybe one year getting 5....though it's hard to see when and how that could happen.

I'll even go so far as this...and I think I'm on safe ground here... The AAC is the WORST BB conference UC has ever been in: the Metro, Great Midwest, and Valley were all better conferences AT THE TIME WHEN UC WAS IN THEM. As it stands, the A10 and WCC are consistently better conferences than the AAC is.

Just saying...UC BB is in an unprecedented situation right now.

Thats in a good year. Right now we are low major looking. We are a poor man's West Coast Conference right now.

Agree and it is not even close. The Metro was a far better conference. Louisville won national championships in 80 and 86. Memphis was a final four team in 83, I believe. Conference also had Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Florida State, and Southern Miss. Some pro players from these teams included George McCloud, Clarence Witherspoon, Bimbo Coles, Dell Curry among many from Memphis and Louisville. If correct, it is unbelievable that we only have 3 teams in our conference ranked under 100,

I agree with most of what you said there, but the bolded simply isn't true. Even this year the AAC is better than the WCC, though Gonzaga has the best team (I'd say in the country honestly, though Duke is more talented). There is a lot more depth in the AAC than the WCC. The A10 has had similar depth, but the AAC has better programs at the top. This is an odd year as Temple/UConn/Memphis are all down, but the A10 and WCC are not consistently better conferences.
