RE: UC vs Tulsa game thread
Interesting

TIEBREAKER: UC and SMU each entered Saturday with one AAC loss, with each team beating the other in their two meetings. If UC and SMU tie for the league title, they will be declared regular season co-champions.

Who would be the No. 1 AAC tournament seed, since the teams split head-to-head? The tiebreak procedure goes to several levels, starting with comparisons of performance against each team or tied group in the standings.

If the multiple tiebreak procedures still cannot break the tie, the Nos. 1-2 seeds will be decided by a coin flip.

RE: UC vs Tulsa game thread
My understanding of the tiebreaker is how you did against the next best team in the league on down. 2-0 is better than 1-0. Uc wins tie breaker if ucf finishes ahead of Memphis. Smu wins if Memphis finishes ahead of ucf.

huggin's teams also had lots of moments where they played ' down ' to their opponents. It's a psychological thing in many sports. Like Mick says...a win is a win is a win. 1 point is a win as well as a 30 point victory.

probably their adrenalin jumps up a bit when they play UC. UC now has targets on their backs since Coach Cronin has developed his team now.

Uc also made nice adjustments at the half to hold th to 2 points for the first 8 mins of the second half allowing the cats to. Hold and sit on a nice lead.
I would love to see nick keep the pressure on and instead of be content to slow the game down and minimize possessions and win by 18/20 I would rather see the cats turn up the gas and push leads out further. They need a killer instinct for march.
If that game was sold out a bunch of tix were sold to invisible people.

Sux to hear in re: sell out. Had a bunch of recruits there. Would have been nice to have a legit sell out crowd.

It was a nice crowd. It wasn't packed to the gills, but it was more than respectable.

It took awhile, but the only seats not accounted for I believe were the student tickets away from the center and I think they get them in big blocks now, so many probably decided to bail on getting up early and just passed. Quite a few strolled in after halftime it seemed.

RE: UC vs Tulsa game thread
At my first game in person today. Brought my father to his first ever UC game. Our thought:

Washington is a rebounding machine. He also has the ugliest, yet very effective shot. But it got to be comical how hard of shots he took going to his left when he had easy layups if he could go to his right.

Gary Clark is just plain a problem. Does everything solidly well, if not with much flash.

Jacob Evans, on the other hand, really shows a lot of flash in person.

I had a bunch of people around me yelling for Troy to push the ball more, then they would laugh and say "Oh yeah, Troy never pushes it."

Cumberland looked like an angry young man on the bench.

Many student tickets unused, bu nothing I did not expect for a noon Saturday game against Tulsa. Would have had a hard time getting out of bed myself back in my college days.

All in all, a very good experience (though Dad would have had a coronary if he knew how much those tickets cost). I still hope our conference and NCAA tournament games are at night and not at noon.

RE: UC vs Tulsa game thread
We are back to the a similar position as we were in CUSA: the team to beat (or at least one of them). For the AAC, aside from SMU recently, we are the only ranked conference home game they have this year. We are atop the standings. We are the Alpha Dog again as opposed to just another program in the Big East. Granted, I'd rather be in the old Big East because .500 in that conference was worth a HECK of a lot more in national perception than first place in this conference but I digress.

Somewhat of an ironic punchline is that JC gets suspended the very game after Mick said he'd be getting him in the game more, the four-guard set, etc...

Even in C-USA, there were four or five good teams. Here, there are only two.

This is pretty much, C-USA with some of the upper programs skimmed off the top (UL, Marquette).

I agree. 2002 all over again. Hopefully a better result in March.

Old cusa was much better than the current aac. Crean's marquette teams, calipari's memphis teams, pitino's louisville teams. Mike Anderson had some good uab teams... pat kennedy couldn't coach but he had a couple incredibly talented depaul teams.

We were talking about just this last night. CUSA benefitted from UofL, Marquette, Memphis, and UC giving the conference swagger regularly making the tournament and providing RPI boosting games for each other....

then UAB, UNCC, even SLU and DePaul had potent teams at times so 4-6 CUSA teams could make the dance in a good year.

My hope is that with Kelvin Sampson at UH and Tubby at Memphis, Haith at TU they will get better fast...combined with UC and SMU... those teams will become the mantel carriers for the AAC so we can again be in a bball league with 4+ teams that can make the NCAAs and have the respect of college bball.

We are stuck here for the foreseeable future so we have to make the best of it.

Uconn, Memphis, smu, and Houston would give some of them cusa teams a run for their money. To be honest Charlotte was harder team for us than anybody besides Louisville. Uconn has done more in aac than smu and us combined. We need to actually win a conference title before we start beating our chest as kings of AAc

If I remember correctly I think there were a few years CUSA had higher ratings than some of the power conferences and got more teams in the tournament. There were definately some bottom dwellers like Southern Miss, Tulane, ECU, but the top and middle was much more competetive. Charlotte was always a tough foe.

Huggs hated playing at Charlotte. There was a game in 1999 or 2000 I think when the lovely Charlotte fans threw coins and batteries at the Bearcats.
Kisses for Diego Guevara anyone?

Bolded, I have to agree. The AAC has been, and will be again next year, a much better conference than this year's performance. It's been the perfect storm of injuries and coaching changes that have kept some of the traditional leaders down. UC has all its goals within reach with just four game remaining. Carpe diem.

Did we not win a share of the conference title in the first year with Louisville?
