RE: Rod has not lost this team
Huff's success last night was an indictment of Carey, not salvation. All of us here knew Huff was what he was last night and more. He should have been starting most of last year and all of this year. We would be 8-2. STF should be thinking "wtf?" If he's so involved in football he should be just as angry and frustrated. The RB position should've been like the days of Wolfe and Turner but it's basically been a weakness all year with no threat to break open.

Carey's job is safe because we don't have the money to buy him out.

Huff is an awesome pure runner, as good as we've ever had and that's saying something. But he also doesn't carry out his fakes and doesn't block. Last night he completely whiffed on his block on the play when Graham got knocked out of the game. That's the second year in a row Huff has gotten Graham killed. I'm sure that stuff bugs the coaches.
Yep, these are things the coaches notice and why Boughnon has continued to start. It's a shame as long as this remains the case, Huff may struggle for playing time and probably won't get much of a look at the next level.

Truth. Huff has the ability to be Wolfe like, but Wolfe blocked well and caught passes out of the backfield. Small running backs that can't block don't often make it to the big leagues.

Huff can catch passes and he isn't small. To me it seems the only question is the blocking.

+1 love watching him run. But I did see the missed block(s) and a play action pass when Santa faked to him and he didn't even get close to Santa. He might have been too worried about blocking.
On a different topic - I know some players don't have knee pads, but doesn't he have a great chance of getting a helmet crush one of his knees?

Huff is clearly capable of carrying out his fakes and blocks. I don't think there's anybody out there that gets it right 100% of the time, especially not under the direction of the NIU coaching staff. Huff is obviously the strongest, fastest, and most explosive RB on the team. He's truly exciting to watch and ignites the entire stadium when he touches the ball. He can easily make it at the next level. We could win games with a player that has that kind of impact on the team and the fans. Boughnon is a good back, but Huff takes it to a whole new level.

If I didn't know better, I'd think I was listening to the logic of Carey himself. Who made you an authority on what people at the next level are looking for? Huff's talent is bigger than NIU and the coaches who don't realize they have a diamond in the rough. Good coaches can see raw talent and help to perfect the minor imperfections. Even with limited touches this kid gets results.

Huff is a game changer who never got the chance until yesterday due to Bouagnon's injury.

It's not even close. Huff is a hundred times the runner that Bouagnon is. Bouagnon couldn't even carry Huff's jock straps...

I've always been a fan of Huff because his running style reminds me of Michael Turner. He's likely to get you a yard or two every time he touches the ball and has the "home run" ability as well.

One thing about the next level, knowing the playbook and preparing are much more difficult, so if it's true he wasn't preparing enough here, it seems like it would be tough for him to suddenly change and handle the tougher preparation. Otherwise, he seems to have the ability, just has to keep the motivation. And he does take it to a new level, literally, on a number of runs. And we all knew if he got as many carries as JB he would end up getting bunches of yards.
